My neighbor who moved last week... just showed up on my doorstep with his pittie and all her AKC paperwork asking us to take her because neighbors were complaining to the landlord they were scared of her. She's a gorgeous well mannered girl, but someone tell me why don't people think about their dogs when they move? You'd think they would clarify exactly what the dog is, introduce it to the landlord and go from there? Breaks my heart!
I feel so bad. I have 2 other pits we adopted, opening a business on Monday and already feeling guilty about having to crate the 5 month old puppy as it is..... Lord give me strength today!

"AKC paperwork", eh? First step is she should contact the breeder ... the responsible ones will take back a dog (though few actually will)

We've got all the paperwork, shot records, lineage (spelling?) scroll, bill of sale and papers about the breeder.... Funny part... we heard the same line used with this one as with the puppy "You guys are such good people and take such good care of your dogs... ect". Welcome to my petting zoo! Admission is 1/2 price today!

It was great of you to take her in. It certainly sounds like you have your plate full!

Well..... all 3 pups are relaxing on the floor.... BTW the breeder is someone named Malone. We told the neighbor we'll keep her till he's ready to come back and get her. I've kept several peoples pets over the years (had a conure parrot for 2 years) till they came back and got them. We're just gonna open a petting zoo!
So far today, I woke up in tears from the pain in my back from bad disks. Stood in a fire ant hill and took about 15 bites to the foot. Had a dog dropped off at my doorstep.... And OF COURSE she just got through bleeding and my male dog is walking around like a 13 year old on Viagra. *shaking my head*. What's the Army slogan - We do more before 9:00 am than most people do all day!
I need a nap!

So were they actually informed that the dog could not stay?

I'll be sending them a certified letter tomorrow to let them know what has happened (per the sales contract that was signed by the neighbor). And give them the option to either take the dog back if they want, or we will keep her here and get her fixed.
It just broke my heart... he's had her for about 4 & 1/2 years and I know how much he loves her. The day I bought my house, he came over with the dogs certification papers in hand... he was so proud of her He actually introduced her before he told us what his name was. I'll keep everyone posted!

That's how I got Poca, except her previous owners took her in off the street; skinny and scraped up. Oh, and she went into heat as soon as she moved in. Same with Dottie. Eko (neutered) thought it was the best day of his life. So I can relate. I'm just glad they weren't pregnant.
I'm glad you could take her in. It was a stressful time at first for me too, but things have settled down nicely. I hope the same for you.

Wow. Well, you're awesome for taking the dog. Bringing a dog in under even the best of circumstances can be so disruptive and stressful. I hope your day gets better and best of luck with the new (temporary, hopefully) addition. Oh, and we need some new pictures of your pups!

I know how you feel. One day I woke up and came downstairs to a huge growling rottie. What is this I asked. Oh .....couldn't keep him and I said we would take care of him for you. He became my favorite. We had him for 5yrs until he had a heart attack. Then a female ABPT mix puppy showed up. She went to a friend who has alot of property, then a knock on the door a few months later someone asks us to doggy sit his APBT for a couple of weeks, never to return. My husband has a great heart as I do but I do all the work. I am getting too old to keep bringing in more animals. Bless you for your dedication. Good luck.

Well, we made it through the night pretty much intact. Only one little spat with a few drops of blood and a timeout..... *shaking my head*. Of course it was all over getting daddy's attention when he got home from work. Told the family that NO MORE animals are allowed in the house... I don't even want the easter bunny sneaking in this year... lol. I keep checking my forehead in the mirror... still don't know how they see "Sucker" written there. I swore I erased that when we got the puppy pawned off on us a few months back!

I'm getting the word "NO" stamped on my forehead tomorrow. Anyway, we contacted the breeder, and OF COURSE they have no use for her. So, we found someone who shows dogs with his brother. He is coming to get her tonight. I feel kinda bad, but we called the old neighbor and gave him the option to come get her and he said no, again OF COURSE.
