I know a few of you are on my facebook page... Cleveland was found running today in Shreveport La. Thankfully the woman who caught him was a pit bull owner, and called the number on his microchip ID tag. The AC there will kill any pit bulls they get, so they didnt' want to take him there. Long story short, he is at the AC now, and safe from being killed. Home Again will pay up to 500 for the return of the dog. He is still registered with them as his prior owners dog, so we are working together to get him home. I have been scared sh!tless, sick, pissed off, and barely missed having a panic attack.
In the am we will have more information on when and how he will get home. I for one, am ready for a road trip.
As for how he could have gotten down there.... The husband is an OTR trucker, so I am going to assume they had Cleveland out on truck with them and he got loose. I have tried to call the number I have for them, and it is disconnected. I wish it wasn't so I could rip some butt.

I think I am done with rescue. It seems no matter what you do it isn't enough. I did a home check today, great house and awesome yard. Sweet lady. I would adopt a dog to them. But personally I'm scared to let go now .

Homer again is transporting him to his original owner, and I will go get him from him. From what we understand is that he isn't skinny or injured. He us dirty though. I called my vet today, we have a standing appt. He was. heartworm neg when I had him tested in the spring. Worried now since he has been found in the south where it seems more common then it is around here. I take this as a MAJOR sign the he is meant to be with me. I picked up 2 more crates and food bowls today. No way I'm hell are he and winnie running the house! Winnie stole a photo off of my book case 2 days ago... chewed the frame, still can't find the glass and photo. He has it stashed somewhere!

We always have our rescues chipped before they go to the adopter, with our contact information. If any of our dogs go missing I want to know what happened before I return them to the adopter.
And there's nothing wrong with wanting to take a break, especially after the past couple months you've had. We've all been there. Like Mary said, check out that article on compassion fatigue.

oh he is staying with me and never leaving. His adoptive home has not contacted me at all. Also the number I have for them is disconnected. If by chance they did call me...I would be a biatch and play dumb. But I don't expect a call. I have Winnie chipped, and I planned on getting Rhett chipped asap.

Cleveland will be on his way home tomorrow I believe. I can't remember if they were picking him up today or tomorrow. The ASPCA arranged the transportation. He's traveling in style with other rescue transport dogs. He's had all his shots, and will be home I hope by Sunday. I am extremely excited. I already went out and purchased 2 more crates. Didn't realize how big they were, but they're huge! He will get to spend time with his old owner until I can get down there to pick him up. Zach is excited to see him as well.
Zach did ask me that if ever I decided I didn't want him, or couldn't keep him, to call him. His younger brother wants a dog once he gets out of the police academy. But, Cleveland is not going anywhere!!

I think he was meant to be yours. It always seemed like he was one of your heart dogs.

I agree Suzi. I think thats why I haven't been able to get over not having him with me. I miss my pug like crazy, but I can see him, and talk to his new owner all the time, so it's ok. He's doing awesome, and his hips no longer bother him. Mac my lab has a female owner and is the only dog. Perfect for him, and right down the street from Judy's. But I don't miss him as badly.
I can NOT wait to see Cleveland!

So happy he's been found and on his way back to you. People can be so disappointing sometimes. And people wonder why some rescues seem "crazy" or "paranoid" right?
