I know it's really hard Mary. But we're all pretty smart, rational people around here. I think all of us have tried to see the other side of this without bias. We've tried to understand their position and reasoning. The bottom line is that our assessment of the facts have led us to believe that their position is wrong and harmful. When you have completely irrational, inexperienced, ignorant people comparing RPB to Michael Vick, it only makes me more secure in my position and I firmly stand with you and RPB. It may not be the popular thing to do, but it's the ethical and right thing to do for the dogs. Thank you so much for saying this. Smart and rational and logical will always win. And you're right, we've tried and tried to see the "other side". If it made sense to me, I would SO be there - would certainly be easier. I know Michele feels the same way...... Ditto!!!

yeah, it's "funny" how they want to deride the nannydog theme by pointing out that a few photos of dogs with kids doesn't prove anything....... at the same time they want to make some anti-pit bull point with a few anecdotes....

That's fine. I could tell he wasn't for these dogs. I just did a search to find something to show the nanny-dog wasn't accurate, and this is what came up. And Mary is exactly right (of course ). If we don't hold to honesty and the facts, when others, not on our side, do it for us it's going to SUCK. Here's the thing: Extremes are just dangerous in regards to any belief. Also (perfect example with that article)- That comes from anti- pit bull people. Ok. In it he references precisely those people "for the breed" who are trying to sugar-coat everything. In turn, lumping all of us into the category of "pit bull people are not being honest." I wish those turbocharing the breed could read articles like this and see the same thing. And then figure out what responsible ownership really means.

There are references and jump-off points, so it serves a purpose in two ways: shows that there aren't grounds for calling the Pit Bull a "nanny dog", and also that the anti Pit Bull people are going to use our "info" against us in anyway they can. Yes this guy is trying to twist things and deride the bull-n-terrier breeds in general and Pit Bulls specifically.

Oh I realize RPB does not have standards set in place but it sure would be nice to see RPB's side of shelters and rescues using your educational material for pre adoption programs. This way there will be more accidental good homes.

Just being my usual self I always see the other side. It sometimes causes me heartache. But yet I still do understand why some people might get defensive about it. Not saying it is right. They need to learn what is right. Once they realize they did alot of work to have a succesful relationship with their dog that their pit bull in the hands of others may have likely been returned to the shelter again and again then maybe like me they can acept that the breed is NOT FOR EVERYONE!

I keep trying to distribute. I sometmes get looks. like who the heck are you and sometimes I get asked-What are your credentials. and I hate when some of them think they know more then me because they are a paid ACO. that one rubs me the wrong way.

We don't approach groups, shelters or rescues anymore. We just try to promote ourselves and make ourselves known to others, and if someone wants our help or to use our material, great. Hitting your head against a concrete wall is no fun and that's what it began to feel like when making the first move with other organizations. Besides I can kinda understand, no one wants some random person or org approaching them telling them "I can help you do your job better" or whatever, ya know? Last night I got an email from someone who was looking to start her own rescue and loved our material and wanted to use it as a jumping off point for her organization. She also wanted to know if she could keep in touch, if need be. Loved that! We are all about supporting and working with other orgs.

Fingers crossed that Petsalive is interested in a program. They have the room for it and they do I think weekly volunteer sessions. Could be awesome if I could do my little adoption program up there that includes the little PB blurb. If I could get up the guts cause I am so nervous even doing it here at my little library.
