I apologize ahead of time for this.... So I went to Jason's sisters Halloween party last night, where this beautiful pit bull named Jade was there. She belonged to their roommates friend. Her and Ozzy (the sisters dog) were playing a lot and then disappeared into the house. I went in for another beer and in the kitchen this guy who owns the pit was giving ALCOHOL to his dog. I was so mad, but I couldn't physically get the words out of my mouth to say anything to him. I went outside and found Jason where I told him privately what was happening. He was mad too, but had the same problem. They didn't give her a lot of alcohol and she puked up a good amount but WHO DOES THAT TO THEIR DOG!?!?! He left about an hour after I saw it, but I struggled all night trying to get the words to come out. I didn't know these people and i'm usually very good at saying things (I can be down right mean when I need to be)especially if I believe its wrong. Was it shock? I don't know.. I feel incredibly guilty for not saying anything but i was literally speechless.

n people who get their dogs stoned to watch em run in circles n people who give their young kids alcohol to teach them "how to drink responsibly"...I dunno if confronting such morons is gonna stop them either. Don't feel guilty- some things do leave us speechless ya know? At least you shared your thoughts with Jason and maybe thats all ya could really do given the situation

What's really nice is that Jason was very firm that no one would do that to OUR dog and that made me very happy. Means he is taking dog ownership seriously.
I'm going to talk to his sister today and let her know my concerns.

A few years ago before we started crating Barley when we're not home, he pulled a box of beer off of a rack in the kitchen, BIT OFF the top of a bottle, and drank the entire beer. When we came home and saw what had happened, we rushed him to the vet. He was fine, thank goodness. Our vet assured us that while obviously alcohol is not good for the dogs, a little beer would not harm him.
After that, Barley started to try to steal beer. He and Dharma are always trying to steal beer if we have friends over, and we can't leave any bottle or glass unattended where they can get to it. So we let them have just a couple TINY sips once in a while as a treat. And we would never let them have any type of alcohol other than low-alcohol content beer. I don't know what they were giving the dog at the party, but if the dog was puking then it was obviously too much or something the dog should not be drinking. That's messed up.

It was Jungle Juice made with several 100 proof alcohols and fruit punch.

So I talked to Jason's sister last night.. She knew and was upset but didn't really do anything. Her boyfriend who I adore thought it was awesome that this guy was getting his dog "F**ked up". My heart broke when he said that.
Jason has said again that no one would do anything bad to our dog. I'm still a little upset, but I suppose there is nothing I can do except boycott their parties. I probably could as I don't need to be drinking anyways. Jason hates alcohol so I'm sure he would be more than happy to not see me drinking.
Thanks for reading everyone.

The worse thing about stupid people is they are never the sole victim of their stupidity!

It was Jungle Juice made with several 100 proof alcohols and fruit punch. Ok, this is just MESSED UP. I'd be really angry, too, if I saw that! As far as you not being able to find words, it happens. So many times after the fact I've thought of fifty million things to say, but in the moment I was at a loss for words.

I admit I pour the 1/2 tablespoon of beer in a can from the night before in Ruby's bowl for a taste and she knows the word 'beer' -BUT- when my husband suggested giving her enough to make her drunk, I reamed him a new orifice!!!! (I think I made myself very clear to him)

Luca takes after his mommy I suppose, and loves alcohol LOL I seriously have to watch him whenever people are over and drinking because he WILL do his darnedest to try and steal a swig.

My aunts dog love beer too. You can't leave opened cans where the dogs can reach it.
Crazy dogs...

and I have to confess that best buddies GSD used to get more than just a contact high back in the day. Looked sorta cute cross eyed and smiling, then he'd stretch out on the floor n go to sleep...course the humans did that eventually too-this was thirty years ago though

Borderline if not outright animal abuse right there. (As an aside, I used to give my horse a can of Guinness every so often as a treat. She LOVED it and it was good for her tummy.)

I kind of dont want any of Jason's sisters friends around any animal that I own. I may be blowing this out of proportion but I kind of don't trust them.

I don't think you are blowing anything out of proportion. I'd be nervous/uneasy as well.

I don't think you're blowing it out of proportion. Several of us have let our pets imbibe in moderation on very rare occasions but a bunch of adults intentionally getting a dog possibly dead drunk? No, I wouldn't trust them at all
And some people do change as they age, was just considering that the same man that used to get his dog high at seventeen is guilty now when he smokes a cigarette in the house-in the basement-with the windows open-and a fan on...because his Pookins is upstairs
