Snorts is in emergency surgery as we speak.
I'll make it short...
He's been throwing up since Sun morning. Went to e-vet Mon night. X-ray showed what appeared to be gas; nothing too alarming. He got fluids, and some shots to settle his stomach. Yesterday he was good. He had an appetite, and ate what I gave him. Then he became very sore in his abdomen. I thought it was from his stomach being so active, and gave him a gas pill. This morning, he seemed to be in less pain, but refused food. Struggled to poop, and nothing came out. Promptly threw up after being outside, and it was the food from yesterday morning. Then and there I knew: bowel obstruction. He's been at the vet since this morning.
The vet said they'd call once he's in recovery. Hopefully that will be soon. Mommy and daddy are freaking out.

C & P from FB because I'm exhausted...
The vet called a little while ago to tell us that Snorts pulled through just fine. There was an entire sock in his intestine. No, not pieces, but a whole sock. That little thief must have stolen it and snarfed it up before we even noticed. The vet told us to give him a talkin' to once he got home. I will...but only after lots of ice cream and cuddles. He should be able to come home late tomorrow night, if all goes well.

I'm so glad that Snorts is out of surgery and recovering. That little turd. Otis and Lebowski are always trying to sneak socks, and this is exactly why I try my darndest not to leave them were they can find them. But they're SO sneaky!

I hope this isn't a breed characteristic... But on the other hand I never wear socks...

I hope this isn't a breed characteristic... But on the other hand I never wear socks... Oh, it is! The vet just said they removed a peach pit from a Pit's stomach a little while ago. She also said there was a dog who had 3 or 4 instances of obstructions, and the owners euth'd him because they couldn't afford it anymore. Sounds like real a**holes to me. I just called in to check and they said he was still pretty out of it. They want me to visit later and see if I can give him something to eat. I have to wait till 3:00, so I'll give you an update then.

OMG poor Snorts!! Having deja vu here, this is so similar to what happened to Luca with the corn cob. I'm so glad Snorts is ok. What a little brat, swallowing a whole sock!!! These dogs are really too much sometimes! Can't wait til he's back home with you guys.

So glad he Snorts is ok and OMG this is what I am afraid of. Thank you for posting about how he vomited food from prior day. Now I know what that means. I did not realize that. If ROcky is not feeling well I will be following him around checking out his vomit and poop Better educated about it. And not just socks anything anything I try to take away he will try to swallow whole as he learned he gets to keep it that way.

I hope this isn't a breed characteristic... Like adoptapitbull said, it TOTALLY is. I swear it's in their DNA.

Really glad Snorts is okay! Blockages are scary. I had a similar incident with Molly. She started smelling really bad one evening, but other than that everything was fine, they got their dinner as normal (raw). The next day she was smelling like death. I rushed her to the vet, everyone agreed there was something going on, I had to leave her and go to work. They called me later and said her problem was that she ate some kind of animal and barfed it up at the office, so I could come and get her anytime as she was feeling much better. I did that, but when I asked what she threw up, they said it was a spine. I told them that was her dinner from the night before, and since it was sitting in her stomach so long that's what made her smell bad. I caught holy hell when they found that I had been feeding her raw chicken. That evening when I took her out for potty, she pooped out a sock. Well, half-pooped. I had to help it along. :-[
