It's been bothering me since. I never want to be the source of anguish to her, I've been through the tortured dog syndrome before and it's horrible to think I remind her of pain.
I was standing over her crate just before last out before I leave for work, and as she was standing half out of her crate I reached down and grabbed her around her flanks. She screeched in terror and actually turned her mouth to my hands, although she didn't touch me with her teeth. Close, though.
I tried to calm her , and as I held her head in my hands she gave me an exact replica of the Dharma look in the collage. She would not make eye contact. She did not acknowledge me at all the next 10 minutes. She went through her motions, and back inside she retreated to her inner crate and lay down. I felt like crap.
I know I probably just surprised her, but I hope she has a short memory and doesn't remember what happened. I don't need setbacks with her, we've been doing great lately.

Refusing eye contact and not acknowledging you is just submissive behavior. She may very well regret her own actions and her misunderstanding of your actions. I predict that this too shall pass, and fairly quickly.

I too think she will bounce back. I know you and she will work it out.

Aww it's okay Dave, fur kids or human kids we're harder on ourselves than they are. It's a good thing, it's because you care about her so much. She's forgiven you already...it's alright
