I just happened to be glancing through the photos at our local shelter yesterday when I noticed one of our neighborhood dogs was listed. Evidently her owners didn't want her anymore - unfortunately, when they took her in they told them that she was dog aggressive (which she is not - she has had many interactions with her apbt and was fine and we've seen her interact appropriately with other, smaller dogs), now her kennel reads, "Pitbull," and, "Aggressive." She also is missing a good portion of hair on her backside - looks like a flea allergy - easy to take care of, but people don't know that. No one is going to adopt her! We went and spent about an hour with her yesterday - getting her some exercise. If we could take her we would - she looks so much like our baby and it broke our hearts to leave her, but right now it just wouldn't be fair to her or our current pets - we don't have the time to train another dog.
If you're in the Central PA area, please check her out - I'm sure they will adopt out of state if you're really interested as well. I promise you she is a very loving and cuddly dog. My husband and I would be willing to help with adoption fees and/or transportation. Please consider her!!
If you can't adopt this particular dog - please - if you are considering getting a dog - rescue! There are so many dogs at the local shelters who deserve love - and believe me, they will love you in return!
The dog pictured above can be seen at www.lycomingspca.org/ - her name is Athena. If you'd like more information - just let me know.
Thanks!
