Three words: Really Reliable Recall. It's an inexpensive little booklet available on Dogwise.com. There is also a video.

Mac was weird... if he didn't realize he was off leash, he wouldn't bolt, but if *I* noticed, and attempted to get him in, he took off. I tried changing my attitude when I noticed he was off leash. Keeping calm like it was no big deal. That worked a couple of times, but hard to do. I usually get stressed. I would try to keep calm, and not seem like you anticipate his run. Make sense?
In the meantime, go buy a gate thingy to border off the door until you get him trained. lol I can't imagine you about ready to pop trying to chase him down!!

And it probly is quite a sight watching me follow him around neighborhood to neighborhood. My exercise is supposed to be minimal right now (Im only allowed to work 4 hours a day due to the fact Ive started premature labor twice) so running is not an option and its not a good thing when it happens. He hasnt gotten out for quite awhile tho (Thank God)...And he now sits without being told whenever he wants out or we are getting ready to go out. Hes getting it!!
