She didn't know that Dave had adopted Sedona from RPB - she mentioned that her walking group had a member who adopted an OH200 Pit Bull. ;D I was like, "Oh guess what.....!" LOL We are going to do a link exchange. I'm excited to connect with her, since she sounds like she trains dogs very similar to me, and I would love to have another good trainer to refer people too. And I really appreciate what she's doing with her walking group for reactive dogs..... Anyway, I thought it was cool that she emailed RPB.

Very cool. Dee really likes Sedona. She pays special attention to her every walk. Dee felt personally responsible this past walk when Sedona pretty much shut down during the walk due to the sound of gunfire, off in the distance. She couldn't get used to it. It was a difficult day for her, and she's still showing the after effects today. Dee felt awful that she had left all her behavioral aids back in the car. You could do a lot worse than referrals to Dee.

She's better now, but there was a time when if Dharma heard a gunshot on the television or from a video game, she would LOSE it and shut down too. It would take at least a day to get her back to "normal." Same thing with fireworks. Breaks my heart thinking about what these dogs were exposed to. I hope that Sedona gets back to herself soon. Give her a smooch from me please.

Pablo used to get plenty peeved at the sound of firecrackers and other fireworks that our neighbors in Bordentown used to set off. Pablo has a much deeper bark than most Pit Bulls and it is very resonant. He could make a lot of commotion. Most of the other dogs freaked or ignored it. (My old Schnauzer Mix Louise probably wouldn't have flinched if the house took a direct hit from a smart bomb, so surreally even keeled was she.)
Now that I live in the sticks, we get gunshot sounds fairly frequently, but they are far enough away that none of the dogs seem to mind at all.

(JohnR has a REALLY cute, small - 95lbs - male at his shelter that I am in love with just from one picture.) One of the sweetest dogs I've ever known! And so well mannered on leash that I can walk the lunker with just my little finger on the lead! We actually have a lead on a possible owner, but the dates the dogs went missing aren't quite matching up and the geopgraphy isn't a close match either, but it's close enough that we've implored the guy to come in and look.
