At 9:00 tonight I'm lighting a candle for all our friends who have experienced loss today, and for all our dogs that have gone before us. I'd like to think that there is greater healing power in numbers.

At 9:00 tonight I'm lighting a candle for all our friends who have experienced loss today, and for all our dogs that have gone before us. I'd like to think that there is greater healing power in numbers. Thanks, Dave, I'm in! I was just thinking. Since Judy and I took in many, many dogs in the 90s and then took in some older and/or infirm dogs more recently, I have lost 9 adopted dogs and 2 long term fosters just since I started my BCAS job just a little over five and a half years ago. Pablo is pushing 14 if not already there (got him 12.5+ years ago when he was a guesstimate 1-1.5yo). Barring cancers or other things that cause deaths while dogs are still in single digits age-wise, I should then get a reprieve after Pablo. And I cried my eyes out every time and will do so every time.

I didn't have a candle per se, but I lit the wood burning stove fire at 9pm and said another goodbye to Winnie and asked the pack mates that moved on before her to welcome her. I then thought a little about the many, many other dogs I've known that were never part of the pack who have moved on. It was a helpful little ceremony. Thanks again, Dave. Great idea.

I was out at a concert at my library so Im late but I just lit my candle in honor of Barley. And my dads sassy and spanky and my childhood cats Patches and Hobie. And for all the abused and homeless.

Thanks, everyone, this meant a lot to me. My candles lit for Barley and Suzi, Winifred and John, fureverywhere and Coco, Ozzie and Emily, and all who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one; for Sedona, Luca and Harley, who all need extra light these days; for my past fosters Rose, Dolly and Belle; for the memory of my own, the one and only and original Pitpack... Buster, Ivan, Boo Boo, Molly and especially Jackson, whom I miss more than anyone can know. My thoughts go out to you all. Yeah, it may look lame, but the tree was a gift from a good friend; even in jest it means the world to me, decorated with wonderful memories.

OH MY I love the tree. My dad lives alone and does not do a tree. I might just make one of those for him for christmas. Today I am working on family tree album for him and I was doing the dog page. So I even have a photo of his first dog. One of the dogs is on a slide and I cant figure out how to get it to a picture without buying some contraption.
Thank You Dave for sharing this whole idea. These types of ceremonial moments are very helpful for closure and healing and remembering.
