Maybe pissed is the wrong word.
I found out this evening that the majority. of my co workers. think I am stupid for keeping my dogs, letting Rhett live, and fighting the proposed pit bull ban.
Especially since on of my pit bulls bit me.
I like how they forget so conveniently the details.
When I get home, I am cleaning upy fb friend list.
It is one thing to talk shit behind my back, but it is another to "side" with me, and "support" me to my face.
Seriously hate ppl right now.

Purging relationships periodically is always a good idea. But so many people are SO two-faced that an honest person is often considered something of a freak of nature, in my experience.

I always thought of it this way when people said rude sh!t about my dogs and fights.
Would I rather them be dead in a shelter, or deal with the occasional scuffle?
People just don't get it unless they're in the situation. To them, you have these monsters in your home and all they do is rip each other to pieces. You probably get, "It's because you have too many dogs." Last I checked, it only takes 2 to fight.
I'll tell you guys if something happens here because you understand, but I leave everyone else out of it. The more I tell, the more they judge. And since everyone thinks they are Cesar, by keeping quiet I also don't get people's "expert opinion" on how my training is leading to dog fights.
Tell those people to go suck an egg!

I moved this because it is something a lot of us have to deal with since we keep Pit Bulls.
Anyway, that really sucks Melonie. The talking behind your back thing is messed up, but yeah, pretending to support you to your face is what's really f'ked. I totally agree with what fureverywhere and johnr said.

Melonie, I've learned that what people think of you doesn't matter, and they'll talk about you no matter what you do. What matters is what you do. This is also the reason I never really tell anyone (other than you guys) if Chubby does something 'bad' (like if he bit me by accident because we were both reaching for a toy at the same time for example). Because people selectively hear certain things and latch on to the sensational part ("OMG, Chubby bit you!")  |

I know where your coming from Melonie. I've really got this from family and friends as well. When I talk about my dogs and advocacy for the breed people are always "yeah that's great, blah, blah, blah," but when I'm not around I know what they are really saying "What if one of those dogs turned on her or her son etc." I may not post on a lot of threads, but I do read a lot. This is our safe zone where we can go an not be judged. So forget those people, even though it's annoying their not true friends anyway.

None of these ppl I would consider friends. They are co workers. And what they think about me doesn't really matter. I do hear other crap they have said, some of it hilarious. (about me, not the dogs) But, these dogs, and the breed is something very close to my heart. So finding out just how two faced their support is, well, why freaking lie about it?
The only ppl who knew what happened, were management, and three others who either help me with my dogs, know my dogs, or are other wise close to me. I know who it was and how it got around.
The nice thing about this, I can be a complete b!tch at work, I don't have to be nice. Not covering anyone's shift, etc.

Ugh...Amen to many of the above comments. I hear ya....I have snipped the final strings with my extended family thanks to these same things. We all just need to accept that we are all horrible, inconsiderate, and irresponcible people for loving and allowing these evil creatures to survive in our very homes. .....Makes me sick. I frequently feel like I want to attack people (verbally and physically ) when comments are made about Pit Bulls or Bola....then theyd probably say "See?! she gets that from her dog" People are ignorant, nosy and annoying...Screw um all! |

It does hurt alot and make you angry at the same time. It's like having human kids that aren't the best behaved but you know that and you love 'em to death anyway of course. But people always have to add their 4 cents in about " If THOSE were MY KIDS...". By the grace of G-d, they aren't their kids, they are YOURS...those people are just ig'nant and will get whammed by karma someday...really |
