"If we want people to take us seriously as responsible pit bull owners, shouldn't we acknowledge that our dogs – whether they are of the gamedog, purebred show dog, working dog or shelter dog variety – are good dogs not DESPITE the fact that they might be pit bulls, but because pit bulls aren't inherently evil? They are, just like other breeds of dog, just dogs. But they are also pit bulls. And that's OK. At least to me it is."
Awesome!

I'm so glad others are starting to slowly but surely speak up. The "dumbing down" of the Pit Bull is not gonna go over well long-term.

I am so tired of seeing rescues and shelters describe a dog, "She's a Pit Bull, but don't let that fool you, she's really sweet!"

I am so tired of seeing rescues and shelters describe a dog, "She's a Pit Bull, but don't let that fool you, she's really sweet!" Yeah a sweet dog should just say its a sweet dog, Does not matter the breed. I was just about to post on the FB page when a dog rescue posted a video of a dog down in Ga I think that was just found it was burned and had punctures. It totally took me to another place after reading that whole article and coming back to make a comment. I could not help but post the video in that thread. The whole topic of Pit Bull title is starting to make well meaning Pit Bull advocates look like a bunch of crazy people. Like they are trying to cover something up. Like do rescues of Labs say this stuff like if it is a complete mix you call it a lower case l lab mix? Or its not a lab at all. Like when I was a kid a dog that was not pure bred was just a mix or a mutt. I never even heard of or saw a "Pit Bull" until I was about 18 about 1984. I remember this guy who was in his 20s bringing his dog who he exclaimed was a Pit Bull to where we hung out. He showed how this dog would grab onto a tug and he could swing the dog through the air in a circle. Dog did not let go. She basically from what I remember was a really small dog. Built like Rocky. I kind of remember her being even smaller then Sedona. I believe she was a very young dog. And that was all I knew of Pit Bulls then was that they grab on and dont let go. I really knew nothing else until I adopted Rocky and just before that I was not effected by the media hype nor did I believe that. But when I brought Rocky home I was flooded with it and I started to get scared. Im glad I fell into the right group of people to educate me with out sugar coating or making things up. And politely correcting mis information. Well I thought I never saw a pit bull until I was 18 but now I know I probably saw many in fact I now believe that my boyfriend at the time who is now my Husband his childhood dog that I grew up with too was a real fat Pit Bull mix. ( started dating him at 14)

Very good read. I am so tired of seeing rescues and shelters describe a dog, "She's a Pit Bull, but don't let that fool you, she's really sweet!" Agreed! See that on Petfinder a lot.
