I stopped by to see Denali today.
He is adjusting well. He's full of wags & wiggles.
Very awesome dog. He listens to Aaron well, just a very well behaved dog over all.
Unfortunately he might have allergies. Aaron told me he will pull himself across the carpet, and I saw him in action. After he was done, I tried to get a look at his stomach. I could tell it was red around his business, but he wouldn't let me take a good look.
It wasn't like that when I picked him up. However I did notice that
he seemed to have big nipples for a male dog. He does, but one of them is not normal. I had Aaron get the vet records that were sent with him. The vet made no note of anything abnormal, but I do know it was enlarged before.
So..
I went home and grabbed some benadryl. He is already on fish oil. He is going to buy different food and see if that helps.
If not, a trip to the vet, not only for the allergy, but also to look at his nipple.
I explained how it could be a malignant or non malignant growth, and it needs to be removed either way, as he has caught it during scratching and it had an open sore.
Aaron did say he'd noticed he'd been scratching more lately, but he chalked it up to the dry skin that we already knew he had. He has never let either of us scratch his belly, so he never even noticed it. After I noticed it I also looked at his eyes, and they are irritated as well.
So tomorrow he is washing his bedding in hot water only. I gave him one of my spare dog pillows. It had been washed recently in laundry soap and softener. There are no smokers, or girls in the house so no perfumey type stuff (candles, etc)
I noticed a long time ago, after Winstons first round of allergies, that I am more sensitive when it comes to other dogs. If they're itchin' I find out why!
