Sending some prayers and well wishes to everyone!
It's not been the best few months for the RPB regulars. I thought 2012 was supposed to be better, damm!t!
Stay strong, guys.

Aww, Mary, I'm so sorry to hear this. Sending good thoughts to Luca. It kinda freaks me out watching Murphy get older. Would using a towel as a sling under him help?

I use a handicap harness for Luca or else I just carry him. Most of the time he just doesn't even wanna get up. Today was another one of those mornings.

How are things today?
Pablo is getting pickier and pickier about what he will eat. Never a good sign. Winnie and Theo are the only dogs I've lost (both to fast growing cancer) who didn't start losing at least some appetite as the end neared.

^ He's doing ok, John. His hind end is pretty weak but he's eating normally and whatnot. So he's holding his own for the time being.
Hugs to Pablo.
Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread and for all your care and concern. It is much appreciated and makes a big difference to Luca and I.

Just curious what you do to make a dog more comfortable when they get to that age that their back end is weak. Does he like a lap blanket? Or what about one of those heat pads.

how is he doing ?? you should try the cold laser treatment on his back end, i have been doing it for cheyenne here and i notice a better difference already and she got 3 days of treatments so far, each section was 3 minutes long

Is he doing better?
It makes me sad that these dogs that I've "known" for so many years are getting old. It's worse with Luca since he's so closely related to my boy. How old is he now?

He scared me last night, woke me up around 3am, just didn't seem ok at all, like he was fading away. This morning he was normal, seems ok.
Aimee, he's 14.

Mary, you and Luca are in my thoughts. I hope he is doing ok. I don't even know how I would handle my dogs aging. It must be so rough.

Carolann, Luca is always snuggled in a lot of blankets, either on the cot or on the couch. I was directed by my vet to use a cold back on his back. I also use the Ruff Wear harness for him: www.ems.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3665391
