Bananas

I was sitting here, when all the sudden, the dogs started barking like mad in my bedroom. I got up to see what the fuss was, and all three dogs were in Winston's crate, trying to get their teeth into a banana!!

I scolded all of them, and Ellie took off like a bat out of hell with the banana in her mouth. I cornered her and had to pull the mushy thing out of her mouth.

Seriously? A banana!

Bananas are the only thing that Inara will actually drool over.

Saxon goes nutso for bananas! Every time he sees/smells a banana peel on the street he lunges for it like its a squirrel!! Here's a quick video of him begging for a banana:

I always thought he was the only one! How funny that so many dogs like bananas!

Yep! That's some serious banana enthusiasm!

The first dog I had who loved bananas was the second dog my family had when I was growing up (not counting a Beagle that was briefly there when I was too young to remember). Ricky, a sort of Sheltie Mix looking thing, loved several kinds of fruit and even picked his own raspberries at times!

The biggest "fruit fiend" I ever had was the notorious hedonist Thelma Lu, a small Spaniel Mix (best guess: Cocker X Pomerainian), who loved an even wider range of fruits and veggies than Ricky did.

Another noted fruit fiend was Heather Marie, a Pit Mix most noted for her over the top prey drive. But she was heavy into fruit, with bananas probably her favorite.

I've had several others who liked some but but not all fruits and all seemed to agree that bananas are at or at least near the top of the list in fruity wonderfulness. Pablo, on the other hand, hates all fruit. He has always been among the pickier eaters I've ever had. Actually, come to think of it, he's the pickiest. He's getting pickier and pickier still in his declining years, but he has never ever abided any fruit whatsoever.

Winston and Ellie love bananas, carrots, lettuce, and tomatoes. Cleveland won't even lick that stuff.

How funny that Ricky picked his own fruit! My mom's lab KC picks cucumbers off the vine in her garden the summer! My mom's late lab, Beulah, was like Pablo and hated fruits. Dogs are just too funny!

Yeah, and Ricky was good at spotting the most delicious, big, ripe ones! Heather did once pick some fruit when we briefly had some wild black raspberries growing in the backyard in Bordentown. But Ricky did it quite a bit!

Cucumbers? That's a big haul to pick!

I love it -- 'banana enthusiasm'! Ruby follows us around when we have one ... I've even been teaching her the word! But she doesn't hold a candle on Saxon or the meeting in the crate! LOL

Luca loves bananas. But then again, Luca pretty much loves anything that's edible (and some things that aren't).
