... And he might be right! Saxon is an amazingly clever little guy! He knows just how to manipulate us!
It was a beautiful morning and I took him to the park so he could run in the fresh snow and I could take a few pictures. I walked right by the clearing where dogs gather to play and went towards the fields so Saxon could do some snow zoomies. He did one grand zoomie and then heard a dog bark in the distance. He stopped dead and looked longingly in the direction of the clearing.
I said, "C'mon Saxon, lets go to the trails!" He looked at me pathetically and started lifting his back leg and limping towards me.
"Don't try that on me, Saxon!" He put his back leg down and lifted his front paw, then his other front paw. He looked like a dancing poodle or something.
"Seriously?? You aren't fooling anyone!" So, he stood back up on his 4 legs and walked a few more feet before stopping dead and lifting his back leg. He stood there looking pathetic with his back leg lifted.
"Fine, jerk, you win!" I said and I started walking towards him. Suddenly all of his debilitating injuries were gone and he sprinted ahead to the gate! A miracle! Well he didn't get what he wanted.
"We're not playing with the doggies! You can either have fun doing zoomies in the snow, or we're going home!"
He learned the limping trick from Tim. Whenever he limps when Tim is walking him, Tim picks him up and carries him the rest of the way. If he limps, he doesn't have to walk anymore. That's not all, though! Every time Tim comes home, Saxon scratches at his collar as if it is the most irritating thing he's ever worn. So, Tim takes it off. It doesn't matter that Saxon has been wearing the collar for hours with no issue, the moment he sees Tim he starts to scratch at it!
