A question about grooming...what soap or shampoo would you recommend for washing the dawg???
I've been using lavender baby shampoo maybe twice a month. Is that okay for her skin? It sure makes her fur super soft but wondered if there was anything better for her fur and skin too. Mane and Tail is another one I've tried, but the baby shampoo smells so good.
I have to get a picture sometime of her before a bath. She picks up on the idea that the water running in the tub is meant for her. She'll tip toe to the end of the hall and when I approach she plays pitiful doggie. There's this whole Oscar-worthy performance where she drops on her back and weakly waves all four feet in the air, NO DON'T DO IT, NOOO ANYTHING BUT NOT THE TUB
...she seems to really enjoy it once she gets in, the warm water and rubby scrubby and looooves the brushing afterwards...maybe it's the cats giggling from the counters, I dunno

My personal favorite is Tropiclean (all natural and smells amazing!), particularly their Papaya plus. Lately with the dry indoor air I've been also using Buddy Rinse Conditioner (also all natural) and it left his fur so soft and shiny that i tried it out. And yes, my hair looks freaking awesome! lol

don't use human baby shampoo. It isn't formulated for dogs skin and coata and can actually be pretty harsh, even the natural stuff.
for regular coats with no skin problems I love buddy wash and rince. I used to use it on lucy but the shop I am at now doesn't have it. It leaves the dog so silky smooth and smelling lovely.

I was just thinking about posting about this topic...we just gave jackie a long overdue bath the other night. We use Tropiclean....the one that smells the Coconut and has Aloe in it. It makes here so soft, shiny and smell so good. I always want the best for Jackie's hair...b/c i aint got none She's a white dog again..at least for a couple days.

I ordered the lavender Buddy Wash yesterday. Looking forward to seeing if it helps the itchies. It'll probably make a big difference. Baby shampoo and Paul Mitchell work for humans. Mane and Tail is formulated for horses and people. But think those were too harsh for a short haired pooch.
I love seeing the transformation after a bath. We go up to the reservation alot and the dirt and clay coats everything...of course then you have to scrub the tub afterwards too.
But they get out of the tub and all the white highlights from paws on up are sparkling clean...n the smell...ya lay your head on their back and mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I washed Winston w/ my daughters cetaphil face wash, gentle formula a couple weeks ago. I couldn't find his oatmeal shampoo of course. I figured if my overly pale sensitive skinned daughter could use it w/out ending up w/ a rash, it might work for Winnie.
He didn't smell like heaven, but he was clean! I did find his shampoo a few days later buried under the kitchen sink. No idea why it was there let alone how it got there!
