Kris and I are currently renting a 3 bedroom two story house. It has 1 bathroom down stairs. 3 bedrooms is really all we need.
We live about 40 minutes away from Kriss work.
Our landlord is amazing. He is super sweet, fixes everything and everything immediately, and lets me do with the house as I want.
Our landlord has a house open 5 minutes away from Kriss work. It’s A LOT bigger than ours- 4 bedrooms and 1 bathroom upstairs. Kitchen, separate dining area, office, 1 more bathroom, 2 enclosed porches and living room downstairs. It’s a beautiful home with tons of character…much bigger than what we need tho. He usually rents it out for more than what our rent is (Its in a bigger town, and bigger house) but said if we moved into it he would let us pay the same rent as we are in our 3 Bedroom House.
My first thought was OMG I bet it costs a fortune to heat/cool this house. So today I called the electric company its 24 month average is only 90 dollars more than our current houses average…Thats gas money right there. So that evens out...
Here are the pros and cons Ive weighed-
Pros=
1. WAY Closer to Kriss work-Heard gas prices are going to soar again :/ and winter weather and that drive doesn’t mix well..they rarely call off work
2. Its located in a bigger town with more stores so it’s convenient
3. There would be less stress living there (I would no longer be my grandmas neighbor)
4. There is a fenced in yard for Bola (Who is a runner!) and the girls with HUGE shade trees
5. Currently I do not plan on returning to work but if Id decide to enter the work field again there would be more opportunities
6. No deposits at all-Water, Electric, and Renters all transfers over
7. All of Kriss family lives in California-when they come visit us wed have PLENTY of room for them to stay with us.
Cons=
1. We have a newborn-a move is an overwhelming and scary thing to me right now
2. We have a newborn (lol) money is tight, I haven’t been working for awhile, am not returning to work and Kris missed a week of work
3. The washer and dryer is in the basement (That bugs me)
4. More room and space to clean
5. There is no central air conditioning-The landlord provides two window air conditioners but ugh…I love central air
6. Our house finally feels like home-this house would be a big empty house to settle into
7. Biggest con- scares the sh*t out of me….Afraid of regretting this somehow.
This potential house also has all hardwood floors. I don’t know how to feel or what to think about that, Ive always had carpet. Anyone with hardwood floors, Id love to hear if you love or hate them. I think it would be AMAZING not having to vacuum ever but how is it with kids and hardwood floors….Trying to imagine Faith learning to crawl and walk on hard floors….Yikes!!
Kris and I don’t know what to do…..This new house seems perfect for us but weve just settled into our house…We have a newborn…but weve been wanting to get closer to Kriss work so I don’t have to worry about him on winter roads….Ahhhhh!!!
What do we do?!?!?!?!? ??? ??? ???
