No posting of events that have anything to do with the American Bully Kennel Club or American Bullys or 'bullys', in general.

LOL! Ur funny! Man u really dont like these people do ya!?
I'm with ya tho, I hate it when people take one breed and then add something else to it to make it how they like it. Like the designer breeds and even people who breed the white GSD's that irritates me, white on a shephard is a HUGE fault but they just keep breeding and people just keep buying!!

The American Bully breeders by definition are irresponsible. I also find them across the board promoting a really bad image for the APBT. There is nothing legitimate about what they are doing (and despite what they claim regarding a 'new breed', the so-called 'American Bully' is NOT a breed). Irresponsible breeders don't get to promote themselves on this forum, period which is why I don't allow promotion of 'Bully shows' put on by American Bully breeders or the ABKC (which is a joke registry) As far as white GSD people, at least they have taken steps to legitimize what they are doing. The people breeding white GSDs are breeding sound, stable dogs that adhere to the GSD standard, EXCEPT for color. White was also an original color of the GSD as envisioned by the breed's founder, and actually was accepted as a color until I think the 1960's. With the American Bully people, they have taken and completely distorted the APBT breed to suit some kind of weird fad. Despite the fact that American Bully people INSIST that 'APBTs come in all shapes and sizes' there is NO HISTORICAL point of reference to show that the APBT EVER was meant to look like this: www.theevolutionbullies.com/damn6.JPG

Well I guess I understand the whole white gsd thing but it still bothers me, I grew up in a family that showed gsd's for years and years.....the white thing bugs me! Ur right that atleast they r breeding sound dogs....hopefully anyway. The link of the Am. Bully definitly didnt look like a sound dog, it looked more like a dog that cringes in pain every time it has to move much.

I'm new to the board and am asking this question not as a challenge, but out of ignorance.
I started volunteering at a shelter that primarily had pit bulls and I knew nothing about the breed. So I did a lot of research and one thing that I came across in my research was that "Pit Bulls" are comprised of a few different breeds. One of the breeds is the American Staffordshire Terrier. I believe this is what is referred to on this site as APBT? I also read, on many sites, that the American Bulldog is also classified as a "Pit Bull."
Anyhow, at the shelter and the dog park I have seen absolutely gorgeous American Bulldogs who look very happy and healthy.
I clicked on the link above and it doesn't link to a photo. So I'm wondering what the problem exists with the American Bulldogs. They seem like wonderful animals to me.

American Bulldogs are a great breed. But they aren't Pit Bulls. They are a completely different breed. Many people confuse them for Pit Bulls. This thread specifically is about "American Bullys" which are different from American Bulldogs - American Bullys are a fad, a distortion of the traditional, standard American Pit Bull Terrier. Confusing, I know. Lots of similar breeds with similar sounding names, and LOTS of people who aren't very familiar with "pit bulls" trying to educate others when they themselves still have a lot to learn. Btw, never worry about asking questions here - there is no such thing as a "bad" or "wrong" question. That's why we are here

An American Bully magazine wanted to feature our rescue, but I turned them down. It felt really weird b/c the dogs we are finding homes for are NOTHING like the AmBullys, not to mention the people at the AmBully shows promote this really terrible image, of thug-like owners with dogs in spiked/studded collars. It was just all wrong for us, and I felt very uncomfortable with it. I dont know a lot about AmBully history, but looking at those distorted, disproportionate dogs tells me something is just "off".

You have good instinct, Amanda We have refused to do booths at American Bully shows - it just negates what we are about and trying to promote. The history of the American Bully in a nutshell is that the dogs are a combo of AmStaff and APBT bloodlines (and although they will deny it, most likely some other breed like Bulldog). They are bred to be a completely exaggerated and distorted version of the APBT. They are still registered as APBTs by the UKC, but the American Bully people have created their own registry as well and promote these dogs as "a new breed". Here's hoping the UKC will eventually do the right thing and deny/revoke registration to any dog/litter that is also registered as an American Bully with the ABKC.
