We sell DE at PDog and it is awesome at killing fleas. I use it on Saxon once when he got fleas from Tim's parent's house (ew) and it got rid of them fast. I don't know about the added calcium, the stuff we sell at PDog is 100% DE. It kills fleas, but I don't think it repels them. Neem and yarrow should work well for that, though.

I think the DE can be sprinkled in the house on any carpet or furniture too. It cleans and also kills fleas.

Yup, you can sprinkle it on the carpets and any bedding the dog uses and it kills fleas on contact. Just be careful not to use too much, because it isn't good to inhale.

Yeah my vet suggested it too. (vectra) but after looking at forums and complaints on side effects of extreme lethargy among other problems I have decided not to try it. I do have 11 months left of K9Advatix which has always worked well. But the ticks are just crazy this season. So I plan to try all of the above The DE powder mix. shampooing with suggested shampoo, and Apple Cider Vinegar in the water and the essential oil bug spray. The only thing I am not trying yet as I am concerned about over dose is garlic pills. Which is cautioned on the website. My mom is considering trying Vectra however she is worried since her dog had a chemical burn reaction to K9 advatix. She has been using frontline.

DE the human grade works, you can only buy it on line or planet dog. dont use the DE from tractor supply or home depot that is not safe for pets.
i use bucks mtn powder along with neem protect spray- no ticks on the dogs or me from sundays walk.

www.earthworkshealth.com/ (link for DE) This place is local to me, (Norfolk, Ne) You can order it online or go pick it up. They do say that food grade doesn't work, that you have to have the non food grade for pest control. Not sure why though. I have a hard time reading their website.

I forgot to add that I had gotten an order of Trifexis for Wrinkles. It is for flea and heartworm, and worms. It's a once a month chewable. I chose this because I don't want to put anything on her skin due to her allergies. Unfortunately I have misplaced it, before I ever got to use it. Once I get an extra $80 I'll order it again. Until then it's just weekly baths w/ the Goodwinol shampoo.. We don't have fleas, and the other dogs get frontlined. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I haven't used it myself, but my coworker swears by Buck's Mountain and so do a lot of customers at PDog. I haven't had a single return for it or DE. The DE that we sell is food grade, don't remember the brand name, though.

My vet gave me Vectra this year, ticks are suppose to be really bad in my area this year along with fleas and mosquito's . I asked him what the dangers were. He said his dogs didn't have a reaction to it but it is known in some dogs to cause vomiting, excessive drooling and lethargy. He said if this occurs bring them in right away and they will give them a shot to counter react it. My dogs had no reactions.Thank goodness. I might need it lol, I found one in my hair eww.

I had it wrong for vectra it was not lethargy but the opposite of restlessness. Dogs not sleeping and eventually leads to psychotic tendencies. I found it on web md.
