Ok guys.....my cat is scaring me. I don't know if I should take her to the vet or if she went into heat.
Today she starting crying and when I went to check on her, she was like army crawling across the kitchen floor. Since then (this was at 4) she has spent most of her time laying in her side in the kitchen in front of the door. Every once in awhile she will cry and tense up her back like something hurts. When you pick her up she usually goes limp in your arms, now she keeps her back stiff.
But She jumps fine....
She's been crouched and crawling all night tho. She's 7 months old.
What do you think heat or something I should be concerned about???
Btw, she has an appt to get spayed.

I know absolutely nothing about cats, but if my pet was doing that I would take it to the vet right away. But like I said, I don't have a clue when it comes to cats.

They act all stupid. Meowing like mad, Army crawl across the floor... butt and tail in the air... They just act plain weird.
Oh, and now you should wait until she's out of heat, and hormones calmed down before she's fixed... and don't let her outside!!

Ok. Melonie thank you!!!!!!! And thank you suzi for giving it a whirl. I know nothing about cats either so this scared the shit out of me. Now its a little more obvious its heat, everytime you touch her back her butt goes in the air with her tail to the side.
Ok, ill reschedule her appt. And Asia never goes outside, she's strictly indoors.
Thank you guys. I was freaking out!!!!!!!!!
Btw....my cats a wh#re. Lol

I dunno! If Ziggy went into heat before I got her spayed at a year old, she didn't act like that! I would have freaked out and taken her to the vet! I don't remember how my childhood cat Stripes acted when she was in heat. I'm not going to be very helpful... Hopefully Melonie is right!

Ok, I'm taking her to the vet. I'm going to be worrying all night. One minute I'm like, yup heat. Then the next I look at her and think she seems like something is really hurting her. I'm going to take her for peace of mind.

Yeah, if you touch their rear end at all, they go nuts.
Some cats are very obvious, some aren't. A long long time ago I had two cats, m/f siblings. (Milo & Calistan) I couldn't afford to fix them both at the same time, so I got Milo fixed first. When I brought him home, Cali went right into heat. I had to reschedule her appt. It was two weeks of yowling, sleepless nights.
Tooty... she never seemed to go into heat. I finally assumed she was fixed. Then she had a litter of kittens almost 2 yrs after I found her.
My friends cat was just wh*re, rubbing up on everything, very annoying behavior...thankfully she got fixed.

She may lay there and pant. It isn't a comfortable thing for them to go through.

She's at the right age to go into heat, and by what you described, that's what she's going through.

*Warning: Not trying to be gross or crude here!*
Is it true that if you manually rough up her cervix a bit with a q-tip, she'll calm down?

It has been long time since I lived with cats but I do remember females crawling around, acting weird and rubbing there butts with tail going all weird. And the mewow sounds like you never heard before. However I would probably run to the vet too as I could not rest if my pet was doing that either. Plus I would want to be sure that is what it was.

It absolutely sounds like she is in heat. Cats get MEGA weird when they are in season.

Shes in heat and be careful when opening any doors leading outside. Male cats are ready and waiting and your sweet little Kitty isn't herself. She may bolt if given a chance.

Ok, she's in heat. We rescheduled her spay appt. Vet did warn me that she is probably laying in front of the door with hopes of getting out. So extra close eye on Asia girl. She seems better today but she acts like this is hurting her. Our poor Asia girl. Thank you all....I was freaking out last night.
