Quick question...
I know Bella is not a Pit Bull but...
She has me worried.
Bella will eat her food, then drink water and run around then blah pukes up water with a few kibbles of food. Why is this???
Marley (My previous cocker spaniel) Used to drink, and drink, and drink. Then take two steps and puke then drink some more and it turned out that he had a kidney defect.
Bella has access to water all the time but not food. She gets fed twice a day. After she eats, she always drinks a lot. Then most times pukes up a small amount of water.
Is this something I should be concerned about?? Im debating on taking her to the vet tomorrow am.
Thanks guys!

Does she do it each time?
Mine have done it a couple of times, usually if they get all excited and stupid soon after eating/drinking. One of them will yak a bit of water and kibble. Since it doesn't happen often, I've never been worried about it.

Daily. After she eats then drinks.
During the day, shell get drinks and she doesnt do it then but when she eats she drinks more, then it usually happens. :/

To be on the safe side, a vet appointment is needed.
Does she have full access of the house ? Does she eat objects, material when left alone ? Just curious .

Do you think her stomach is just so full that it can't hold all the water and food together?
If this happens all the time, I'd be less concerned about an obstruction.
I'd try withholding water for a little while after she eats. It won't hurt her to wait an hour or two for a drink. Or, wet her food a tiny bit so she's not super thirsty after she eats.

Does it happen regardless of whether or not she runs around right after eating and drinking?

Bella does not roam the house and there really are no.little things on the floor. We have a 10 month old so the.floors are well picked up.
And yes, it only happens when she eats then drinks then runs around.
If she doesn't run around, it doesn't happen but she is usually bouncing off the walls, wrestling with the dogs or the.cat or just bouncing around.

Could be the amount of water she is drinking, how fast she is drinking coupled with the fact that she is running around that's causing her to throw up.

I'd do some crate rest after eating. Running around/being a nut after eating can cause bloat.

If the puking continues after I am crating her for meals, Im taking her to the vet! And maybe split her feeding into 2 smaller meals. Too full of a belly never feels good, anyway.

I was going to say less food and no water right away. and I think the crate meals is great idea. Actually I had been told one time that a dog drinking too much water has been known to cause bloat has anyone ever heard that? But the story was the dog had been on a flight with no water. When the dog got off plane was given a bucket filled with water and the dog drank whole thing. This story could be bull, but I suppose it is possible.

She just came back from the vet (factor #1: anxiety) and went to the bowl and drank almost a whole bowl before mom took it away. A few hours later she was dead. I limit too much water at one time here because of that. I used to fill a cooler, the "trough" as we called it, and that would last a day or more. Now, it's one bowl at a time.

I limit too much water at once as well. Also limit too much activity before or after eating/drinking. I have used an elevated feeder for years as well but of course now there are conflicting ideas on whether or not they are beneficial or not. I think now they rec. you don't use an elevated feeder. When I first got Harley prior to her being raw fed I put cans in her bowl to slow her down (this would not have been so effective with a bunch of raw meat in the bowl ) of course now they make bowls designed specifically for this purpose.

She has a huge mouth - I swear she unhinges her jaws like a snake. I've tried using the "slow feeding" bowls but she just bangs her face around in the bowl. Doesn't slow her down one bit.

Winston and Cleveland eat in their crate... Winston will lay down and leisurely eat. Cleveland eats with a purpose. Wrinkles eats like she's never had anything to eat before, ever. Like Dharma, slowing her down didn't work very well, so I'd only give her a bit at a time to slow her down. Now that she is on the Grandma Lucy food, she has to slow down, since she has to lick at it. She still a dork about her food but she no longer bolts it down. Since I feed in the morning, the dogs are crated within 45 minutes of eating. They're all lazy butts in the morning so they usually just lay back and chill until crate time. They safe all their piss and vinegar for 4pm.
