Pit Bull Awareness Event
October 25, 2008
HAPPY PAWS HAPPY HOMES TO HOLD PIT BULL AWARENESS EVENT
Happy Paws Happy Homes, a non-profit canine care and shelter outreach organization, is hosting a Pit Bull Awareness Day and Meet and Greet in conjunction with the 2nd annual National Pit Bull Awareness Day. The purpose of NPBAD is to dispel the myths that the media perpetuates regarding pit bull breeds and provide facts about and first hand experience with these breeds. The event will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 12-4 at the gazebo between PETCO and ApplebeeƔs, North Atherton Street, State College. The rain date for this event is Sunday, October 26, 2008 (same time and location).
The event will feature: face painting, games and crafts for kids, an educational video, printed material about pit bulls and breed-specific legislation, giveaway items and dog-related items and refreshments available for a donation. Outstanding, adoptable ambassadors representing various pit bull breeds will be on hand to meet. This event is free and all ages are welcome. The public is encouraged to leave their own dogs at home and enjoy the afternoon with us.
Happy Paws Happy Homes is not a shelter or a rescue and does not have a physical facility. HPHH functions as a liaison between shelters, rescues, the public and dogs. Founded in 2005, HPHH provides educational presentations for schools and organizations on animal welfare topics. The organization assists shelters and rescues by transporting dogs, showcases adoptable dogs at adoption events, advocates for dogs in need of homes, and offers spay/neuter assistance for dog owners when funds are available.
