Capone went and did it..... Starting last night he began coughing/gagging a lot. That quickly turned into vomitting....Lots of vomitting. This morning he seemed better. I fed him and it brought on more puking... So off to the vet we went! The little punk has an object in his stomach. The vet couldnt really tell what it was. It is about 3 cm long and solid. The vet instructed me to give him a greasy hamburger/bacon mix to coat his stomach and hopefully make him throw it up if that doesnt work he will have surgery. (This is the local vet I rarely go to...Hes mainly cattle & livestock but I panicked..... I have to go to a Vet Clinic 2.5 hours away for the surgery.) Everyone wish good luck to Little Capone.

Sounds like he will need the surgery. I doubt he'll throw it up if he hasn't already. With the risk of puncture and infection, I'm surprised they didn't do some bloodwork in anticipation. I'd call first thing to the good vet and ask to be seen ASAP. You reeeallly don't want to wait long because if it passes into the super thin intestine, it could be very, very bad. I hope he is OK!

Poor guy. I'd just get the surgery over with in the am. Rosco (a special needs dog we had) swallowed the back metal clasp off of a baseball cap once. Idiot vet here in town didn't know what was wrong with him Told us he'd have to be put down. We went to a different vet did an ultra sound, and surgery right away. Those cattle vets are worthless when it comes to small animals!

I can't believe the vet told you to wait. Seriously, take him to another vet ASAP and I will be if they don't put him into surgery immediately. This is very serious, same thing happened to Luca.

How is he doing? Have you gone to your vet? I would be worried that he could possible throw it up and puncture something esp. since you do not know what it is.

I called the vet in Radcliffe and I take him in at 3 today for an ultrasound and probably surgery immediately. They were the local vet told me to wait and told me to give Hamb/Bacon (which I didn't do). Going to the local vet was pretty much pointless. He's not throwing up but isn't eating much and is pretty laid back which is NOT Capone.

Drove to Radcliffe with Capone today...
And conclussion........ Livestock Vets SUCK!!
The Radcliffe vet said the object in his stomach is cloth and is small enough to pass (looked like a baby sock) and his tummy was some what breaking it down. Lesson learned... Wont make that mistake twice. Im not going to the local vet again, its always just a waste of time & money. The Radcliffe vet said that it definetly could have caused an upset stomach and she was suprised he didnt vomit it out.
She said I can expect to see the culprit soon if ya know what I mean......
Im giving him steamed rice, chicken, & yogurt for a few days to help aide his upset stomach.

I'm glad he isn't going to need surgery! And... even though the one near you does, not all livestock vets suck. I'm sorry the one near you does, though and wasted your time and money and even got you worried over nothing.

Rocky ate a good portion of my mothers leather glove last year. It took about 3 days before he pooped it out. 3 days of bubble guts. sadly they do not learn that eating that stuff makes them feel sick. Sorry you had to go through all that trouble but I am glad he will be ok.

Benny used to eat my underwear and pass it no problem. It took three pairs for me to figure out we needed to find a new place for the laundry hamper. I didn't even know he'd eaten a pair until I found it in him poo!
How is Capone today?

Capone is back to his normal self. Maybe a little extra gassy! But that happens... He passed one of Averys pink socks Saturday. Colorful poop... :/ Hopefully he sticks to his toys & food from here on out!!
