Chubby found a baby sparrow. I thought it was dead but chubby sat down right next it a wouldn't move. Then I saw it twitch. I dragged chubby away and waited about an hour but no mama showed. Then a guy almost stepped on the bird so I brought him home. Trying to keep him warm and give him a little cat food. I've called four wildlife rescues and no one can take him. What should I do?

First of all, how "baby"? Featherless, or just out of the nest and not flying well yet? Baby birds are really difficult to care for because they need to be fed constantly. Feed moist dog kibble (mushy/soft from soaking in water) - you'll have to feed by hand and use your finger to gently encourage the bird to eat (babies will open their mouths wide when they suspect food - the bird will swollow when it feels the pressure of your finger/the food). In the mean time, keep calling sanctuaries. I don't know any in your area, the only one I know of is about 30 minutes from me, The Raptor Trust. Maybe you can at least call them for pointers. Baby birds are delicate and can die very easily. theraptortrust.org/the-birds/injured/

Update: The little peeper is still alive. I've been feeding mushed catfood (but will have Jason pick up bird vitamins and some dried bloodworms later to mix in his food as per many of the websites I've been seeing). The bird has only tiny feathers on the wings, a little on his tail nub and a couple down his spine. The skin is really really see through and he doesn't really open his eyes much. He has a very good appetite. Sleeps a lot. He eats maybe twice an hour (won't take more). To be honest, I'm he made it overnight, but I don't know what to do. I brought him to work with me so I can feed him but I can't keep doing this.

^ Wow, good work! I am surprised he's still alive too, tbh. I really expected you to come back and say he had passed away. They are just so delicate, ya know?
Post a pic? I love baby birds.

He LOOKS super delicate! Waiting to hear back from Wild Bird Fund (one of the few places they may take in non-raptor birds apparently). I've left a message, emailed and even FB messaged them. Fingers crossed people. Everyone keeps telling me I should have just left him there, and I don't know if that was the right thing to do or not but I just couldn't walk away.

Yes!! So glad you found someone to take him. You definitely did the right thing, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I feel like those people saying that stuff are just too lazy to have done what you did and want to feel better about themselves. :/ I've always picked up injured wildlife (when safe and appropriate) and tried to get them into rescue. Baby birds and baby squirrels are my forte.

So i actually got him a spot with the Wild Bird Fund. They are a bit of a train ride away, but they specialize in birds and I would feel better leaving him there. Now he just has to hold on a few more hours and he'll be given the proper care.

You're awesome! Don't listen to people who say you should have left him! People said I should have left little Steven Seagull baking on the sidewalk last Summer, too. Screw them, you saved a baby bird's life!

So I dropped the little peeper off. They had an incubator set up for him since he doesn't have any feathers. They gave him a quick look over and were surprised that he was in a pretty good condition considering everything he went through. That made me pretty happy because I was trying pretty hard. He is now in good hands, and I will admit I already miss his peeping and his adorable hungry face.

Awwww! I love it, so glad this was a nice happy ending. You rock!
I know what you mean about the hungry face! I had a baby starling that I got real attached to real fast (they are super smart and he'd see my face and immediately start peeping and asking for food, was quiet otherwise.) I was working full time and couldn't feed him on regular schedules so I brought him to Raptor Trust. I still randomly think about that little guy, and this had to have been 15 years ago.....

The funniest part? Jason who is always making jokes about how I want to bring home a zoo was there one that really really wanted to keep the little peeper!! I had to be the one to talk sense into him about how we really couldn't handle the rigorous feeding schedule while both of us have to work full time. I don't want to be the voice of reason...thats NOT MY JOB! lol I'm supposed to be the one that has to get talked out of stuff, not the one that does the talking
