My coworker's Lab/BC mix bit me today and broke the skin. She didn't do it maliciously, she just gets over excited, jumps up on me and bites my arms whenever she sees me. Today, she did it a little too hard and bit through my hoodie making a hole in the hoodie and a small puncture wound in my arm (along with a couple of bruises). I told my coworker and showed her the bite. I just wanted her to be aware so that she could work on training with Malley (who I call Malligator). She scolded the dog (though it was several minutes after the bite and she obviously had no idea what she was being scolded for) and then told me that I should have asked her to sit before walking up the stairs to the break room. Ok, fair enough. That's how she's been dealing with Malley's craziness, but isn't that something you would have told everyone BEFORE they were bit?
When Saxon went through his jumping stage, I told everyone to tell him "off" and have him sit before giving him attention. I asked everyone to help me with his training and they did. That is part of the reason he no longer jumps. I addressed the issue BEFORE it became an issue.
She is so damn lucky that I'm the one who was bit and not a customer. I'm just annoyed, I guess. Plus my arm hurts. Harumph.

Sounds like she needs a canine lesson or two on dog behavior/training etc. Glad you didn't get seriously hurt though.

Whoa Cat. Yes, she IS lucky. Sorry you were bitten, though. Ugh.
(I giggled at "Malligator" esp. considering the topic of this post....)

Sorry Cat. Glad it was nothing serious although I know it still hurts. Sounds like your co-worker is blaming the “victim” a little bit!

There's just one puncture wound, but a few bruises and it does hurt quite a bit. I just wanted her to be aware of the problem, and work on it. I know that she isn't aggressive (to people, I should say, she actually can be aggressive to dogs), but she really needs to work on her mouthiness. What if it's a kid next time? Or a customer? PDog could probably be held liable for it!

Wow.... She is definitely lucky, although it sucks because I'm sure it hurts like hell.
