Maybe the chemicals in the soil are too much or too little for them? Like the ph level or something? Or maybe it doesn't drain well? I've always used miracle grow when I've planted stuff. (which I haven't in a few years)Haven't had any issues, other than weeds!

I am guessing something in the soil/drainage?! I have an area in my backyard where my landscaper planted 4 trees in a line/semicircle. Two in a row died. He said maybe they got too much water (even though they are practically all in a line) He planted them again and the same thing happened! It was so odd but for whatever reason those trees could not survive there. We have since put something different in that spot and they seem to be ok.

i dont know sugar.i bought it at the garden center with a yellow one. they did perfect in the pot, i have a few plants that are dying like this in different spots in the backyard. the front yard nothing is affected. the bf thinks the japanese beetles have somethign to do with it as that is when it started as they are all inthe back yard. all the flowers/plants in the front yard are fine and there are no japanese beetles in the front yard. the dogs dont pee on these areas either, so i ruled that out
