It has been rumored these happen around here. I'm pretty it happens since I've seen some odd things in the past on my walks around town with dogs over the last few years. But never anything solid enough to report. This morning the dogs were going ape sh!t at the window. I thought it was a cat at first, but the dogs would not be distracted. I looked out the window and there was a beautiful rooster. I kept an eye on what was going on, it was being fed and watered. I noticed what it was being kept in and felt really uneasy. I went to the store, and when I came back I could hear the rooster crowing from the box So I came in and called the sheriff. He's over there now visiting with the people. He agreed it wasn't a humane way to house a rooster, and was most likely used for fighting. I gave him a description of the cars that have been in and out of there... They have several people staying with them. So right now, it is running around the yard, which is good. But my dogs are going nuts. I suspect it will disappear in a day or two when they can find somewhere else to put him.

Good for you for calling the sheriff and glad that he took it serious enough to come out and see what is going on. Is he going to update you?

I'm going to have to stand outside with my dogs where I can be seen. I have been letting them hang out in the yard alone, but with my door open so I can hear them, and they can come and go. Not going to be able to do that now since I just caught one skeevy looking dude walking in front of my yard, staring. Hopefully they're not stupid enough to try anything.

And now it's gone. Like I knew it would be. Only good thing is that the authorities at least have a face and know the vehicles.

Ok so it isn't 'gone' Just hidden somewhere else on their property. I can hear it crowing.
Hopefully the sheriff checks back to see if they've changed it's habitat or not.
