I saw a thread today on facebook, saying that Razors Edge and Gotti's are american bullies, not pit bulls.
I've never really looked at those dogs, but what I have seen is that Razors are touted as pit bulls. I haven't ever looked at a Gotti, so I don't know what they're advertised as.
People in the know, what is the story behind this?

i was just reading about this today. A well known dogman (old timer) was basically saying they were bullies. He mentioned a certain period where there was some solid stuff produced but i would have to find the thread again. A lot of these "fancy" kennels are touting these oversize dogs as apbt's and throw those lines around.

Some of the photos are not of dogs I'd ever own. However the photo of the dog posted, I would have had a hard time saying that was not a pit bull, and it did not look like one of those mutant dogs.
What a headache.

You can find 100's of those dogs here in So. Cali. I personally don't care for the low wide look. Having been looking for sometime now, it's frustrating trying to find a Good breeder that has old fashion APBT's, I don't need a pup that weighs 60lbs, and has a 25" head.

It's really complicated/convoluted. The short version of the story is, these are dogs that WERE APBTs (with heavy AmStaff blood) that people started breeding outside of the standard. See Gaff dogs: Dave Wilson is basically the "founder" of the American Bully, breeding off of some of these heftier APBT/AmStaff lines and then going completely off the cliff with his Razors Edge dogs (his kennel name). Gotti/Gottiline is just another offshoot breeder/line of these dogs. Up until very recently, these dogs were being registered as American Pit Bull Terriers with the UKC. Supposedly they were only a "mix" of AmStaff and APBT (which of course, is NOT a "mix" at all). But more recently it's been made known that other bull breeds were added to these dogs to make them fatter/squattier, so at this point they are basically just a big mess of a mixed breed (regardless of what anyone tells you, they are NOT a BREED - it takes many decades of careful, controlled breeding to create a breed, and these dogs are nothing more than Pit Bull mixes at this point as far as I'm concerned.)

Google pit bull breeder in Louisiana and see the monstrosities people are passing off as pit bulls and advertising razor's edge and gotti blood lines
