the videos of the horrific conditions these dogs were kept in (hard to believe they're "fighting" dogs given the obvious poor health of many of them...) will make you cry, but the videos that show the dogs greeting their rescuers will break your heart

Seeing how the dogs reacted to the presence of people in their midst....just.....

My issues with HSUS and ASPCA aside, busts are a good thing and bust dogs are so special.

I haven't read all the reports on this yet, but haven't heard from anyone involved - does anyone know what rescues are lined up to start eval'ing/taking the dogs on?

I haven't read all the reports on this yet, but haven't heard from anyone involved - does anyone know what rescues are lined up to start eval'ing/taking the dogs on? I haven't seen anything.... the ASPCA has its own process. It's not clear yet to me if they've consolidated all the dogs in one location (the indoor kennels shown in one of the videos) or if there are several facilities, in each of the states where the busts occurred. Maybe they'll bring in Bad Rap again... I suppose they have to keep the dogs while the whole legal process works its way.. months or years. Some of the dogs surely are heartworm positive, have babesia or other serious health issues. I certainly saw wounds and other signs of neglect. Shockingly, to me, there are pit bull friends who don't find anything wrong about the conditions the dogs were kept in. People are so focused on the "pit bull owners sometimes are accused of being dogfighters because they have treadmills or their dogs have scars" thing (which certainly happens and is horrific) that they seem willing to excuse almost any kind of yard. I think YesBiscuit summaries the likely sequence pretty well: yesbiscuit on bust

Ok Emily, thank you, that's pretty much what I assumed. Was just wondering if I missed any rescue groups already called in.
I think it's a shame some APBT folk are nursing that victim mentality, but not surprised at all. There are some Pit Bull people who will no matter what always take the side of those arrested when HSUS or ASPCA are involved. They don't see anything wrong with keeping tons of dogs on chains in dirty yards, neglected or outright abused. It's the "culture" and how the breed has traditionally been kept, so it's "ok". I know you know this, I'm just thinking out loud. Really pisses me off and I'm tired of it. Even if no fighting was involved, it's NOT OK to keep dogs like this, breed them like crazy, then sell them and have them inevitably fall into the hands of dog fighters.

someone found this list:
Agencies assisting the ASPCA and The HSUS with the operation include: Florida State Animal Response Coalition and Sumter Disaster Animal Response Team (Bushnell, Fla.); University of Florida (Gainesville); Humane Society of South Mississippi (Gulfport); International Fund for Animal Welfare (Yarmouth Port, Mass.); Asheville Humane Society (Asheville, N.C.); Charleston Animal Society (Charleston, S.C.); Louisiana SPCA (New Orleans); American Humane Association (Washington, D.C.); Greater Birmingham Humane Society (Birmingham, Ala.); Atlanta Humane Society (Atlanta, Ga.); PetSmart Charities (Phoenix, Ariz.); Code 3 Associates (Longmont, Colo.); and Montgomery Humane Society (Montgomery, Ala.).

Yeah Daisy is great. I was just wondering what was going on/why I hadn't heard anything since RPB is an HSUS emergency services placement partner.
