yesterday the neighbors left with their horse trailer. and returned with TWO new horses. a female and male. now there are 3 horses next door. i had just gotten rufus to the point of almost accepting Cassie next door, when now there are 2 more..... now i have to start training him all over again..and now sadie too, as now she likes to charge and bark at the horses.. so both of them are wearing citronella bark collars and i have to start all over again with training ...grrrrrr

Privacy fence an option? Or a 4 ft high one?

We have 2 fences up 4 ft high. We have 13 feet between both fences lol next is putting up ivy or some slats that will fit in field fencing .

Maybe that visual barrier will be what it takes to chill Rufus out. But, knowing him you may have to add the slats and the ivy and then some seriously trailing morning glories! lol

Is it bad I read this and all I think is, "I'm so jealous you live somewhere that horses are next door!"
(SOOOO over suburban living.)

for you all: yes thats my yard on this side of the fence lol.. we have a buffer fence up 13 feet from the horse fence so the dogs arent right up to the horses like they were when there was 1 horse.. we can still pet the horses outside our fence as we didnt fence in the whole yard so if i go behind the fence on the side we can pet them.. when i took these pics with my cell i was at our buffer fence . the neighbors have the palomino saddled up today and are working with their little daughter (around 12) and the horse for riding lessons.

Look how pretty and peaceful they look!
Seriously though, I sympathize with you, I know it is a pain in the butt to have to deal with a prey-crazy dog, in your own yard no less.

So 2 new horses are not new. Turns out they. Get sent to training for the winter. And come back in the early fall lol. Neighbor has owned them for years and since we just moved in we didnt know about them. Owner does lessons with the palomino and the lighter brown gelding is 7yrs old and was starved before they rescued him. Cassie the first horse is a retired training riding horse.
