So who here has their pup on a raw diet? Is it hard? More expensive? How do you do it? I read somewhere that getting meat from a butcher in bulk is cheaper than buying dog food. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Big raw fan feeder! Harley was raw fed until she got sick and now we home cook for her. I am going to be transitioning pup to raw very soon. I prefer pre-made patties because they are more balanced. I like www.bravorawdiet.com/product/index.html or www.primalpetfoods.com/education/feedingI still add in tripe, turkey necks, chicken necks, blueberries, raw goats milk etc. You can also do it by buying meat in bulk from Costco or getting things from butcher just keep in mind you then need to add calcium etc to make sure the dog is getting a balanced meal. There is a lot of stuff in the health and care section on Raw.

Thanks for the info and links, I've browsed the health and care section and I think it's a little information overload. I didn't know that if I got meat from the butcher I'd still have to add supplements. I think I read somewhere that you have to feed them a percentage of their body weight. Is that true?

When i fed raw mine got whole chickens cornish hens all bones and organs = a balanced meal. Go on yahoogroups and join eaw groups. Buying in bulk from a co op is the way to go you can get 309 lbs of meat for as liw as .23. Cents a pound. Get a stand alone feeezer too so you can store the food. I als hit up the local farmers up gere and got great deals on half cows etc... On my album. Imgeevent/princess21 i have links for raw to. I think in the forum there is a thread on raw too

One of my pups is on raw and it's been great for her.
We do a mixture of pre-made raw and home made, we use freeze-dried by primal and stella and chewy's for treats and the rest is all frozen (extra freezer is helpful, like the other said). We've shopped around locally to the find the best deals on pre-made raw and buy meat and meat with bones from the supermarket or a co-op, depending on what we find where.
The information is overwhelming at first but it's not as hard as it seems, and cost-wise, for us at least, it's been less expensive than a high quality kibble, not to mention the amount we're saving on vet visits from having fewer allergy issues.
