Long story short, I had some punk ass 24 yr old tell me I didn't know shit about dogs. He'd been around more dogs than I'd ever see. This was said when I asked him to help remove his leashed dog from my friends off leash dog. His dog had his neck/should and rear end fur standing up, and body tense. My friends dog was relaxed and submissive. However one wrong move, and it could have been not so good. It pissed me off, I replied, obviously you don't know shit. We got the off leash dog away, they went on their merry way.
He might know his dog, my friend might know his. I didn't know either of the dogs so I was going off of what I saw.
(off leash dog was on private property when a train horn blew startling her, she darted, saw the guy and the dog walking and went to greet them)
Anyways. it irritated me.

Don't you know people who allow their untrained or un-managed dogs off leash clearly know everything?

It was the leashed dog that was the one acting stupid. It wasn't my yard or my dog, otherwise a leash would have been on the dog to begin with.

It was the leashed dog that was the one acting stupid. It wasn't my yard or my dog, otherwise a leash would have been on the dog to begin with. Ohhhhh, I read that incorrectly. I thought it was an unleashed dog that approached and had stiff body and hackles raised and the owner wouldn't remove his dog. I misunderstood the situation. I didn't realize the off leash dog was the one showing submissive body language. So this guy's leashed dog had hackles raised and was stiff, and he didn't want to move his dog away to prevent an altercation? I mean, regardless of the circumstances, if we had an off leash dog approach us and one of my guys was showing that sort of body language I would want to move the dogs apart until I knew everyone was more comfortable. I mean, sure off-leash dogs can be the bane of my existence, but I'm also human and realize that accidents happen and sometimes dogs bolt.... I mean, they're dogs, not robots. We have had friendly off leash dogs approach us with super loose body language, but even then I want to get my guys away because I know they can't handle that and would show similar body language. The last thing I want is an altercation, regardless of who's dog is off-leash.
