A jerk deer jumped our fence and was in the yard today when I let the dogs out. Roxy of course wanted to eat Ms. Deer, and caught a hoof to one of her rear legs. Thankfully it's a flesh wound and the vet said no broken or fractured bones and that we were very lucky, she's seen dogs come in with broken ribs, punctured lungs, fractured skulls and jaws, and sadly some dogs don't make it from their injuries from deer kicks. I'm thankful as hell it wasn't worse. Before: After: Totally zonked at the vet. She dragged the tech out to the waiting room and when she saw me, she butted her head into my chest and then just laid down and went to sleep. Home. We cone her when we aren't around to supervise her but otherwise she just sleeps anyway so we haven't had to keep it on her.

OMG, I'm so glad that Roxy is okay. That wound looked nasty, but she's lucky. Could have easily been so much worse. Hope she's up and back to her normal self soon.

Thanks everyone. I really can't believe it wasn't worse. She's already trying to chase squirrels in the yard and she goes nuts when she sees deer on the other side of the fence... Mind you she is leashed so she doesn't tear her sutures but clearly she hasn't learned a thing!
Now, if only I could harness that prey drive into working drive for agility!!!
