And its coming back.... His breath has been like death lately, so i had a feeling that the tumor was coming back . Tonight's recheck at the vet confirmed it. The vets all say the only way to have them not come back is to remove the section of jawbone and back molar ...

I'm going to find out cost for total removal, he is a young 12 and my friends dog had it done this spring and he is 10. I have a good amount of time plus its benign so that is good. I had a feeling it would return and the vets all said it would so it really wasnt a huge surprise

Hope it isn't insanely expensive. Dad had the initial tumor removed and that was around 400. It's coming back again, so he's gearing up for another removal. He worries though because of the dogs age. He's at least 11.

I'm sure it won't be cheap. Vet costs are rising, and a lot of it is because of the human services now available to veterinarians. It's $600 for an ultrasound at my vet's office. Overnight stays are $120. Just to stand in the exam room is $60.
I just spent $400 on Sedona's tests to find out nothing is wrong, she's just maybe settling down. And $500 for Lola's staph infection. And emergency vets are enormously expensive.
ME I sure hope you find a sympathetic vet so you can afford to do what you want for Rufus. I'm keeping you all in my thoughts everyday.

I figure around $3000 as a low since it involves cutting part of the jawbone out.its the only way to keep the tumor from growing back. Its a very aggressive benign tumor .
Melonie your dad's best option is jawbone removal if his dog is healthy enough, its only going to keep growing back faster each time its shaved down.
Yeah Dave i hear ya. The vets are soooo freaking expensive and getting worse. I have one of Rufus's vets who wil give me a payment plan but she is super expensive, i have to see if she can do this type of surgery

I don't know how well Max would recover from something that extensive.
