So Chubby's had another surgery yesterday to remove some more hemagiosarcoma tumors (and get his teeth cleaned while he was under) and he did pretty well. But the in-house blood lab showed the vet that Chubby's minor liver enzymes (something like phosphotaste?) has gone in 75 points in the last few months (since his last major bloodwork). Vet wants to try him on Denamarin for a month and retest blood for enzyme levels. He said to get Chubby the 'Large Dog' version and put him on 2.5 pills a day. So far I've only seen a couple sites that sell it and it runs like $65 and up for 30 pills.
It says the ingredients are basically the concentrated form of milk thistle and SAM-E.
Anyone have experience with this? Maybe know of a generic brand or something? I just dropped $1300 last night for the surgery so I'm hoping there may be alternatives?

Glad he did well and hoping for a speedy recovery! As far as the Denamarin you can try www.chewy.com they have 20 percent off first order if you do autoship and I think you can cancel it before the next shipment so no penalty. Other than that I found it on amazon for about 58 with amazon prime. As far as generic take a look at S Adenosyl and call your vet and see what they say. www.entirelypets.com/sadenosyl2253.html

thanks!!
I got 2 bottles ( 1 month supply) at wag.com because they offer first three months with 15% off, but even then it is pricey for 2 bottle a month
