Over the past few days I thought I kept smelling gas of and on. Last night I checked I checked the oven pilot light, it was fine. Today I had to run home from work, I walked in and the smell was unmistakable. When I got back to work I called the gas co and they sent a guy out to check it out. A bit later the tech called me and I told him what I knew and told him he could go on inside. When he called me back, it was to tell me that my stove is shot. It was releasing carbon monoxide and when he turned on the burner it leaked a lot of unburned gas. Hensaid had the house been occupied at the time he'd have to evacuate it, that's how bad it was.
I feel horrible for my dogs. Looking back, I can recognize the symptoms of exposed in myself. But if my dogs had symptoms, I didn't notice at all and that scares me.

OMG that is so scary. Thank goodness you called and caught it. I hate it when I have a feeling that something's "not right" and then second guess myself for being too paranoid.

Soo scary Mel! Glad everyone was ok and that you caught it.
We went thru a similar thing last year with our furnace. We had/have ADT monitoring and they never hooked up the detectors. I had been waking up with headaches but didn't think anything of it. It wasn't until our furnace went out that we found out there was a hole and it had been leaking out carbon monoxide.

I chalked up my headaches, and sleepiness to stress and seasonal depression etc.
I'm just glad I sleep with a fan on in my room. I keep my door open, and have it pointing out of the room. I need the noise, not the breeze!
