So I have an Amstaff, Kash. She is 2 years old. She is my dog, goes everywhere she can with me, follows me around the house. If I'm home, she's right by my side, which I love! My only problem is she's gotten a bit possessive of me even when it comes to my kids, particularly my youngest. He's 8 years old. An example is, if I'm sitting on the couch and he walks up and stands by my side, even if shes laying at my feet, she'll get up and wedge herself between us. It seems to be getting worse. Yesterday he came running up behind me because he was excited about something and she jumped up and nipped his chin. When I turned around she was cowering down. I saw the dog training and behavior thread and have ordered some books off it. Has anyone else had experience with this type of behavior and if so, what worked for you with correcting it? Thank you in advance!!

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like maybe Kash needs some forced separation. My last dog was a Velcro dog and early on a trainer said to do some forced separation. I would gate my dog in the family room and then go upstairs and let her be by herself for a little bit.
As far as the nipping incident is that the first time she has done that? Also was it an intentional nip or was it more like she was jumping up and her mouth caught him....not sure what I am trying to say is coming out right...LOL
