Excuse my "newbness" but Bones and all? ive got onther noob question, so the dogs don't contract the same diseases as humans? i mean you've obviously been doing this for a while, but no risk of salmonella or is the hen really fresh?

i feed fresh food and food that is almost at expiration date from the grocery store, plus i use a raw supplier as well, not carcasses that have been laying in the woods. they can get salmonella, but their systems are designed different from ours. today i scored all this for $40- 6 knuckles, 2 bags of marrow bones, 2 7lb beef hearts, a beef tongue, and beef ribs from a local farmer...

the bones are for recreational chewing, so they will last a long time. the beef hearts and tongues i will defrost and cut up for each dog, and will be enough for a weeks worth of dinner for all 3 dogs..

thats pretty darn good. my dog goes through 30+ dollars worth of food per month, but your feeding three so...idk how to compare. will each dog get one of those massive bones?

each dog will get one of the large knuckle bones to chew on for teeth cleaning. then once they are done, which could take a few weeks as i put them back in the freezer for a few more times. when i fed kibble my 3 dogs went thru a 40 lb bag of canidae every 5 weeks, at $40 a bag.. with raw, if you get a really good supplier you can spend that much and have the food last a few months instead.. i just bought 120 lbs of food from my supplier for $155 but it was alot of ground, some was ground turkey and bone, some ground whole chickens with organs, and then a special angus beef and chicken neck blend , plus 10 lbs of turkey wings and it should last me 2 months with my crew. my one dog eats 2 lbs a day, the other 2 eat 1 lb a day , so it does add up.. if you buy in bulk its cheaper then at the grocery store, but buying in bulk is anywhere from 200 lbs and up. the more you buy the cheaper it gets.. like my supplier gives a discount if you buy 500 lbs or more to the point it costs you around .35 a lb for raw.. you also need a huge freezer just for raw if you buy in bulk. chicken is the cheapest you can buy , then turkey, then pork, beef is the most expensive.. if you get it ground its even more expensive. i normally pay between $1.14-$1.79 per pound with my supplier because i only can fit 150 lbs max in my freezer, so i pay higher. her pork prices are really good, .57 a lb for pork.. i just ordered 4 rabbits at $8 each as she sells rabbits too at $8 a rabbit, and rabbit is VERY expensive , normally around $2.50 and up a pound, so a 2-3 lb rabbit for $8 is pretty good since its going to be whole but no fur and no head..( i asked her to cut the heads off and skin them because hubby would get sick if he saw the dogs eating a whole rabbit w/ fur..)
the best thing to do is shop around and get deals. a friend of mine got a great deal at a butcher where he gives her FREE all the meat scraps...
for one dog who would eat 1 lb a day that would be 30 lbs a month, and would be cheaper to feed raw then kibble if you got meats under $1.. like shop rite near me has sales where the chicken is between .43-58 a lb... you could stock up and get at least 6 months worth of chicken at that price, and not have to go shopping for the dog for a long time... i also buy whole turkeys at .37 a lb when the other grocery store has sales, and defrost them and then chop them up and bag them for the dogs and freeze it.. i figure 2 of my dogs go thru 30 lbs a month each, with the larger dog at 1-2 lbs a month averaging around 30-50 lbs a month, so the 120 i bought should last a month if i feed twice a day, and longer if i feed once a day. if i cut the larger dog down to 1 lb a day i could stretch it more. i also feed canned mackarel, canned sardines , canned salmon and fresh mackarel as well..
also, dont forget, the better quality kibble the less the dog eats so the less you go thru a month..

wow thanks for the detailed break down. honestly i don't have the storage capacity, but it sounds really healthy. pure protein basically, probably with other add-ins. my dog gets canidae, so we give her about 2/3 a cup 2x daily (cutting her weight back, four pounds over weight).
