i fed canidae all life stages when i fed kibble, it was a good food to feed.. with one dog you could do it easily, with 3 its harder and you need more freezer space, with one dog you could do raw and what i do is when i get large amounts i also divide them into little freezer baggies for maximum storage, like when i get chicken quarters at shop rite i take them out of the package and put 2 each in a freezer bag, this way they lay flat and you can stack them better.. when i get ground i defrost the bags as they come frozen, and divide up a 5 lb bag into little freezer baggies to save room. i use premade raw from www.omaspride.com for the organ meat, its easier to get it that way then to buy each organ separately.. one dog is soooo much easier to feed raw then 2 or 3 thats for sure.. i add in kelp, salmon oil, flaxseed oil, vit E, vit B, eggs, coconut oil, olive oil , royal jelly from bees and thats basically it. yeah, simple food = 3 or 4 milk dud size poops 2 times a day, verses 3-5 large loads on kibble LOL... you can also do www.thehonestkitchen.com its dehydrated raw, you just add water and wait till it rehydrates, and then toss in some meat and a 10 lb container of that makes around 40 lbs of food once rehydrated..

oh yeah i saw that dehydrated stuff at the place where i take my dog to wash her (it's a do it yourself dog wash, genius. wish i had thought of it). do you feed the same stuff to your german shepherd becuz one of my dogs is not a pit and she is a senior (lab/border collie). but buying this must be more expensive then getting the other stuff you also get (like chickens and such) becuz its processed somewhat and packaged. then again i only have one dog, there is a pick up in Cape Cod (i go there for the summer) maybe i could try it out then, perhaps it would help her lose weight or keep thin .

i fed the honest kitchen when i first got started in raw. all my dogs eat raw, even my gsd. for senior dogs if you are afraid of them eating the bones you could buy a grinder and grind it all up yourself.. the organ meats that come from omaspride are cheaper then buying it all separately in the grocery store. if you go to yahoogroups.com and type in the search RAW or BARF it will bring up the raw groups, and you might be able to find one near you or in cape cod..
here is a video of ruby eating an entire cornish hen, she is around 10 months old in this video, and has eaten raw since a pup.
there are co ops in MA too, they are all over the US..

you could also feed kibble in the morning and raw at night, alot of folks do that, it stretches out the kibble bag even more, and the raw as well... dogs on raw can get fat tooo , you have to adjust the feeding if the dog gets too fat or too thin...

is it the marrow (soup) bone? if it has marrow in it scoop out the marrow as its really rich and will give your dog the major squirts if you let her eat all the marrow. you can defrost it in your fridge in a bag and once thawed let her chew on it... make sure you supervise also, as some dogs (like mine) can crack the marrow bone within a few minutes... you can also after a while take it away, put back in fridge, give the next day, repeat, and do that for a few days ...

a little marrow is fine.. its VERY rich and too much will cause major squirts ( if the dog gets the squirts go to the nearest health food store and get SlipperyElm pills or liquid and give to the dog it will help firm up the poop, or plain canned pumpkin will work too-plain pumpkin not the pie filling kind. yes the meat /fat is fine to eat...

ok, ya for the first time i scooped out basically all the marrow, but she still gets the taste plus some flecks. next time perhaps a little more, but this bone should last her quite a while. thanks for yer help, im sitting with her now (just so she stays in one spot), watching munch away. she LOVES it! ive got two so that will be a good new treat

isnt scooping out the marrow a pain?? you can give a little bit more each time so that her tummy doesnt go nuts.. marrow bones are like instant babysitters LOL... once its done and clean you can also use it to put peanut butter, yogurt, cottage cheese in it and freeze it in the freezer then take out for her to lick the frozen goodies inside....
a red or black kong toy can do that too ...

GREAT idea for the frozen peanut butter, ill use it on her next bone. how long will one last? on a side note i started with some raw veggies (very basic) just some chopped carrots, garlic, and a tiny bit of bacon minced (with kibble). with breakfast tomorrow im gonna give her some apple with her meal. i want to start getting more raw meat, i also joined that ! group.

dogs cant process raw veggies, you have to cook them first.. garlic is fine raw,its the only thing they can digest raw in the veggie area.. the group is a good way to start, now some folks dont feed veggies, some do, you will get conflicting info on that.. not all veggies can be given to dogs, stay away from onions, raisins, grapes as they are toxic, so are avocados ... the list should have a list of veggies to stay away from. dont feed apple cores either, the seeds have cynanide in them .
