I've been around this breed for several years now, and I can honestly say I've never heard of a "Gator Mouth" APBT. :bangdesk: thats just about as bad as people believing a certain color is a breed of pitbull.....

Ahh yes, the infamous 'gator mouth'. I've never actually come across on either, and the people who inquire about them never seem to know what they are talking about either. I haven't been able to trace the origin of this one yet

I'm a member of a group, rarely ever post but this one subject caught my eye. The lady had it titled "Gator Mouth" pit bull puppy. Gator mouth wasn't the only thing that caught my attention, she was selling the puppy for a $150 :bangdesk: what is wrong with people??

I was told that Lucy's origin was Colby and Gator. But who knows, I really don't care about her origin, I know she was born out of love for the breed and not by somebody trying to profit off of dogs.

I have heard of "gator mouth" pit bulls before. I think it goes along with "dominant" pit bulls, "king" pit bulls (which I think are a pit bull/cane corso mix, yikes), etc. All marketing ploys by backyard breeders and puppymillers out there.

I was told that Lucy's origin was Colby and Gator. But who knows, I really don't care about her origin, I know she was born out of love for the breed and not by somebody trying to profit off of dogs. Well, there was an extremely famous/popular Plumbers Ch Alligator, who was a very well-used stud so his name appears in a lot of pedigrees. I think perhaps the "gator, gator mouth, gator head" thing is a really really twisted misunderstanding of pedigrees/bloodlines connected to the Alligator dog. Here is a picture of Alligator - I always thought he was a handsome dog! www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=380

I've heard the term gator mouth which means an overbite in a dogs teeth. Maybe that's what they meant.

I've never heard it used to reference an overbite. Certainly no kind of official terminology lol, but interesting....

Hmmmm definitely not heard of this...I have however heard of Level, scissor, underbit, overbit & wry. Mary thats a great picture of Alligator...I never thought to look on peds online. A friend of mine has game dogs, I was putting his pedigree in the system and got side tracked by all the old pictures! I especially like Centipede (on Alligator Dams side of the ped)!
