I have a bumper sticker on my car (among other pit bull stickers) which reads: 'Dog is friendly, Beware of owner' If I could find that on a sign, I'd prolly post it on my fence. That's the one I need, along with, "Attack Cat." I'm one of those rare households where all five cats come out and swarm visitors looking for attention. I wouldn't suggest coming over to my house if you don't like cats.

I have seen many dogs that, even though they are good together, show small signs were there could be an issue if left unsupervised. I understand this breeds issues with misunderstanding other dogs body language which can lead to an aggressive response. I also understand that once in that state of mind, their tenacity makes it easy for a fight to escalate with devastating results. If I had any small inkling that their could ever be an issue between these two, they would be separated unless supervised. To see them together, their disposition with each other, it is easy to see why I trust them together. They'll eat out of each others food dish (if I let them) while the other one is still eating from it without a single grumble of discontent. I'm far from being a "know-it-all" on dogs or their behaviors, but for two 'pitties', they are about as perfect of a match together I could have found.

YEP ! ...snipe that is a very good idea....sometimes when there is a fire, pets are overlooked if their presence is not acknowledged, dire consequences overcast the situation....... the signs letting the fire men know are great lifesavers for the pets.

I always liked that sign that said "Be aware, because the dog is" That would be a blatant lie with my pit, you could step on her head and there is a decent chance she wouldn't wake up. Worst frickin guard dog in history.

No kidding, Cajun would help a thief carry the tv out...if he had opposable thumbs, of course.

I just moved up here from the state of Mississippi and I can tell you for sure that the "Beware of Dog" sign and all signs like that will be deemed by the laws that you are saying you know that your pet will bite. Also it doesn't matter if you have any signs or not if your pet bites someone anywhere on your premises the pet will be taken and held to see if it is deemed as vicious. I have seen this turn into good dogs being put down. (ex.) My son"s race car was on a slab in the backyard and this person climbed my 8 foot wood privacy fence to see what he could steal and was confronted by my 115 pound Rott/Lab mix. Nasty scene. But the county took my pet for 10 days and said if he showed any signs of aggression to anyone there he would be put down. It cost me a fine daily for him to be there and a court appearence. The person doing the wrong got a slap on the wrist and that's it. My yard sign now says "This property protected by a bitch and a 357.

I'm taking a corporate law class at school this semester, and oddly enough the subject of dog attacks and signs came up. Apparently here in Canada putting up a sign will help prevent you from being sued, should something happen. I'm still going to look into it further before putting one up, but hearing it directly from a lawyer makes me think I should have one.

My first Rottweiler, a big lug of a Rottie had a habit of lying down in front of the front door with his back along the threshold (door closed). A neighbor friend of mine came over to visit (he just came in, never had to knock) and literally had to push the door open, sliding Zack across the floor b/c the d@mn dog wouldn't get up. He didn't even lift his head...125 pound sheep in Rottweiler clothing, that dog was. But maybe he was smarter than we gave him credit for, it's harder to steal a tv if you can't get the door open in the first place.
