Many people think his blog is great. See if you can make heads or tails out of this mishmash nonsense he wrote about the AST: terriermandotcom.blogspot.com/2006/05/what-hell-is-american-staffordshire.html(he just posted the link on his front page article about "rape stands") Of course if you read his blog, you know that there's only ONE terrier, the one he favors. Someone needs to ask him what's the difference between pitting 2 dogs, pitting a dog and a rat, or using your dog to kill groundhogs, oppossums, etc, for your entertainment (the population control argument is b.s.)

Oh gawd, Emily, do I have to read this WHOLE THING?!? LOL I tried, I really tried, I just couldn't make it any further down the page than that picture of that poor, fat Bulldog (yes, it is called BULLDOG Mr Terrier Man, there is no such breed as an "English Bull Dog"). Oh, and btw, thanks a LOT for insinuating that we should expect our AmStaffs to attack children due to their historical usage. *Sigh*

I know it is "Bulldog" in AKC, but why are they so referred to as English Bulldogs? I always say "English" when referring to them...just to keep the confusion out of the way...
I am AMAZED at how often I talk to people who are more than confused about breeds. I might bring up that one of my babies is an Ambull, and they'll say "oh, that's the fat wrinkly one, right??" NO! I usually have to tell them that an English Bulldog is like Georgia's mascot, and then they get it.
People have no idea...no wonder Pit Bulls get blamed for everything. Throw any "bull" or "bulldog" in the mix and you'll go crazy at the types of dogs someone might think you're referring to.
I once got told, by a co-worker that "American Pits" were good dogs, but those "Pit Bull Terriers" were mean and would turn on you in an instant!

I have had people refer to their APBTs as 'Americans', as in, "I've got an American, and.....[some dumb comment]..."

I have had people refer to their APBTs as 'Americans', as in, "I've got an American, and.....[some dumb comment]..." Ok I remember a few years ago meeting a guy with a real low-n-wide kinda Pit Bull. I asked what kind of dog, he said Australian Pit Bull. Has anyone ever heard of this? I think I googled it and couldn't find anything. He was very proud of his Australian Pit LOL...

I found this comment particularly intelligent:
Aggression is a behaviour and is learned, not heritable. While it's possible to inherit qualities such as quickness to react, a heightened prey drive, etc - you know, the same basic instincts all dogs have to a greater or lesser degree - you cannot breed dogs to be 'aggressive' and especially selectively aggressive. This is why all these idiots on rescue sites, etc, who yap on about how 'pit bulls' (which aren't a breed) were 'bred to be dog-aggressive, not people-aggressive' are talking through their hats.
GEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
