My breeder and I were discussing yesterday that more women tend to own pits in his eyes. So how many of us male/female own pitbulls. I got into the breed because my aunt and uncle owned pitbulls, but I believe that was because my aunt was allergic to long haired dogs as was her daughter, and we all know they're pretty hypo allerengenic. Odie is my dog and I picked the breed of dog. Hubby really isn't an animal person but I have him hooked on pits.

We have mostly female posters here, so you'll likely get more responses from women ;D I do think in certain circles the dogs are owned by more women (lots of women involved in rescue and advocacy, for example).
.....BUT I'm not convinced more females than males own the breed as a whole.

In my area it appears to split down the middle genderwise. Unfortunately social class standing is the biggest factor in owning a Pit or Pit mix. It appears they flow like water through the hands of the economically challenged and the blue collars of the area-Unless you are a Packer player-they seem to own the big bloated non standard PBs. We had several ex players involved in a hush hush dog fight ring that never got busted here. Grrrrrr. . .

i think its split evenly, but most men dont post on forums, so it looks like its all women.

My older brother adopted his APBT first. "Scarlet" was so d*mn cute and such a spaz, I wanted one too once I got my own place. I worked in a SPCA prior to that and developed a fondness for the breed there. I've had three now, currently on #2 & 3. I turned my other half onto them. He say's they're one of his favorite breeds now, too.
