Your vet should be able to give you the best instructions. Just keep her quiet and comfortable. Hang in there, she'll be fine. They heal fast. And she'll be back to normal before ya know it. Would love to hear how she is doing later

I had my girl Nina spayed about two months ago. Mary is right about keeping her comfortable. She will most likely want to sleep a lot. I was prepared for her drowiness and lack of energy, but I didn't expect her to be nauseated and throw up a lot of the day. Certainly every dog will react differently, but I guess mine was sensitive to the anesthesia. She definitely slept all day and night and did not want to eat or drink at all. She threw up one last time the next morning and was all of a sudden back to the same Nina. She did recover and heal fast after the first day. She ate that next morning normally and played with high energy like usual. So, I was anxious about it also, but I'm glad it didn't take long for her to feel better. I would probably just stay home with her if possible that day to monitor how she is feeling. And yes, she will be fine

i cant really remember back to when my dog got spayed, but she recently tore her ACLs (i know, i already said this in my intro) and she had to get them repaired. the first one she was sleepy for a looong time, but the second - and more recent - she recovered quick becuz they have new and improved anti-inflammatory drugs that reduce healing time. she if your vet could give you those. rosie was up and about the next day. in fact we had to try to keep her calm becuz all she wanted to do was walk around. well more like hop, she was only using one leg.

My pup is kept in an outside kennel with another dog. I was wondering if she should be separated from him when I get her spayed? And should I keep her from running around? This is what is worrying me the most because unless I can get her spayed right before the semester break I'm not going to be able to keep a very close eye on her, and I keep having these horrible visions of her tearing the stitches during the night and disemboweling herself. I know that this is probably unlikely but I still worry about not being able to keep a close eye on her. Who knows I might just spend the night with her in my friends horse trailer to make sure she is okay.

It isn't safe to keep two dogs kenneled together unsupervised. And yes, after surgery, a dog with stiches needs supervision/moderation. Your pup should be kept quiet (in a crate, small room, etc), monitored, after surgery and if necessary wear an Elizabethan collar to prevent her from tearing her stitches out.
