One of our most dedicated volunteers just got in contact with me this evening and her neighbor found a dog with what we suspect is a prolapsed uterus. We are taking her into the vet first thing in the morning to get her squared away. We'll get her scanned for a microchip and all just to make sure but we can't just let this girl sit with this BLOB hanging from her hiney I hate coming to people for stuff like this, but obviously, she needs the vetting and this isn't something we planned for. ANY donation at all will be much appreciated and if you can't donate, please pass this around! Thanks! Click for Pictures - GRAPHIC

I think the chip in will do, Jessica, thanks I'm getting my @$$ reamed on the CL forums right now for asking. I don't know what all's involved with a prolapsed uterus but apparently we're in the wrong for trying to raise funds to cover this. *sigh* I'm helping this dog regardless of the people who are telling me I shouldn't because we don't have a $1500 cushion in our bank account.

Craigslist. Apparently, my feeble mind is thinking there's possibly more involved for this girl than just a spay to "fix" her and I'm wrong. Just, ug. Making me feel like trash for asking for help when I have no idea what all it's going to take to fix this girl up.
Apparently a spay is enough and that's all I need to plan for. So, maybe no more emergency here.

Thank you guys who have helped! Just got back from the vet. 'Venus" is getting her spay done today at my personal vet because our rescue vet had never done a spay with a prolapsed uterus before and wasn't comfortable with it. My vet commented that hers is the worst he's seen in a long time. This surgery will go a bit beyond a simple spay and the bill was NOT cheap. The spay surgery alone is $145. They'll be doing electronic monitoring and will be working on restructuring the uterus while they're in there. She's going to need some pretty special aftercare by the way of sugarpacking (that's what my vet called it). She'll need a sugar mixture of sorts to help absorb the excess moisture and encourage the walls of her vulva to recede SO, if anyone would still like to contribute, it would be super helpful in replenishing funds But, we'll get her squared away either way Added bonus, she's heartworm negative!

Ug, I thought I updated here lol! It wasn't a prolapsed uterus, but a vaginal hyperplasia. What that is is an overload of estrogen in the dog's system when she goes into heat. It causes excessive swelling and wahlah, a prolapse of the walls. So, $$$ later with the spay and whole work up on her, she's on her way to recovery. She has to have some meds for the next four days for pain and antibiotics and also to kill off the whip worms. She also has to have her "blob" (lol i know I'm so professional) treated with Vitamin E and Neosporin and also "sugar packing." She's doing very well though and what a GREAT personality this girl has. The clinic fell in love with her and they were totally smitten I want to keep her name as Venus. I really do
