Has anyone dealt with this? This started with Murphy maybe 2 months ago...trip to vet 7 days of amoxi, it cleared up a bit, but came right back after meds were finished. So we did 10 days of amoxi, vet clipped the hair on his lower lips, washed it...it totally cleared up. Now fast forward a few weeks and it's back...but only on one side of his lips. I'm cleaning it daily with a 2% solution of Nzymes Oxy Drops, putting on a herbal healing salve too. Not sure if I should skip the salve, maybe it's too sticky...won't help it dry out. This is weird because Murphy has never had anything like this...his lips are not pendulous, and he isn't a drooler. The rest of his skin looks great. I really don't want to do the abx route again, since this time they'll put him on an even longer course. I'm going to make an appt with the holistic vet since he needs chiro anyways..but will probably be next week before I get in. Any ideas?

Does he eat out of plastic bowls? One of our vols is a vet tech and says it can be caused by moisture, pollen, allergies...
Seems to come up suddenly though, anything change that you can think of?

No plastic bowls here, only stainless steel or ceramic. The change would be traveling...we've been on the road quite a bit in the past few months. When it first happened, he was eating Spot's Stew dry, which was a new food for him. Then I put him back on Eagle Holistic chicken...we're almost done with that bag, and I'm probably going to go to another food. Eagle has always been one of the staples in my rotation, tho.

Oh forgot to mention that the vet took an impression of the spots and examined them under the scope. She found no yeast, only bacteria.

LOL yes. Fortunately, Murphy has almost always had healthy skin, coat, and ears. So this one is really bugging me LOL! I tried to tell him that he's not *supposed* to have skin eruptions, but he didn't listen to me.

Just a little update, Murphy's lip is looking much better now. It's still not totally healed, but we're seeing his holistic vet for chiro on Fri, so she'll check his lip too. I stopped with the salve, I think it wasn't letting it dry out...and I think that helped.
