Harley and I will not be there this weekend. I made an appointment for a orthopedic consult. My vet suggested Garden State Vets in Tinton Falls and Animal Emergency in Fairfield. I made an appointment at Garden State vet for this Saturday morning. Have you heard anything about them?
I've never used or heard anything about Animal Emergency but Garden State is highly regarded and I've used them twice for emergencies. Once for Krash when he collapsed that weekend we found out about the hemangiosarcoma - my regular vet sent me there. TBH, although I felt the care he received was fine, I felt a little put off by the girls at the front desk, especially when I'd call for updates. In my panic stricken state, I'd have wanted people that were a little more in tune with my needs - they were kind of aloof and I felt didn't relay my needs to the doctors in a sufficient way when I would call for updates, etc.
The last time I used them was in October for The Corncob Incident with Luca (my dogs like to have emergencies on the weekends when it is the most inconvenient). My second experience there could NOT have been better. From the people at the front desk, to the doctors, to getting calls back in a timely manner. Also, I felt they handled Luca REALLY well. I was concerned because of his behavioral issues, but I felt like they heard what I said, and took action and I was just really impressed.
I would use them again in a heartbeat if, doG forbid, I ever needed. (I do not trust any of the other Emergency places in NJ....I just never heard anything decent about any of the others, and GSV is consistently top of the heap as far as being referred and their reputation.)
I know someone else who used them for her dog's cancer treatment and she loved them as well.
GSV is big and gorgeous, too, btw, and on the ball as far as treatment advances, etc. The only downside is that it's about 30 min from where we are, but really it's justa matter of driving down the Parkway and it's right off the exit.
