I'm sleeping in late; I hear the dogs barking outside (they have a dogdoor), but I ignore it.
I finally get up and look outside.
Oh S**%%%)((^^. The gate is open! I must have forgotten to latch it securely last night.
damn!!! Where are the dogs?
Ok: Mr P is inside with me
Lulu is lying outside in the sun, her usual position.
And Ozzy? nowhere to be seen.
Of course.. he's the sneaky one always trying to go on walkabout and the one who always manages to escape. It's happened before (shame on me) when I was careless (or one time the leash snapped; that only happens with the dog that has no recall, you know...)
Oy... how long has he been out?
The previous times, I drove around the development and found him not too far away. He always will run up to the car. (I live out in the country and there's little around.. but there are dogs he might go visit. He's actually fine with dogs in kennels and yards, and only really reactive to dogs that run up to us.. but still.. he is a pit bull even if he has practically no teeth). Don't ask me if he's wearing his collar and tags...
OK, I throw on some clothes and drive around the development. No Ozzy. I go home.
I grab my binoculars, and Mr P, thinking maybe he can help me. Drive around again. I see my neighbor's garage door is open. I stop the car and Ozzy comes running out of the garage. OK! He's been in there probably the whole time eating the poop from the litter box they have for the semi-stray cat they feed. Mr P jumps OUT of the car window to go tell Ozzy he's a butthead. ;D. I open the door and both dogs jump in.
WHEW!
Of course I want to kill him, but since he was such a "good dog" to come to the car, I have to praise the little a**h****.
And then go home and give him his breakfast.
