Snickers has recently been licking his paws raw and chewing edges of his paw pads. Does anyone know what may have caused this. We thought that he may be food allergies. So we have given him a different food. His vet apt isn't until next saturday which is the soonest they can fit us it at the spca her in seminole county. So to prevent him from doing this we have been putting him in infant socks and taping it so it won't fall off. Before putting socks on we proxide all the areas of all 4 of his paws and also we have been putting hydrocordison spray on him before covering it home. I don't know what else to do to help it until we see the vet. HELP please.

Yeast infection? Does snickers smell different? Strong frito cheese smell. Rocky always has a frito like smell but when he had yeast infection it was real strong. Vet told me as soon as I see a sign of smell or rash I should bathe him right away. I cant remember exact home remedy so best to look it up. But it was either 50/50 vinegar and alcohol. (which is for kids for swimmers ear) Or if it was vinegar and peroxide. But I also just read 50/50 apple cider vinegar and water. But not if raw spots guess it would burn. Hope Snickers feels better soon.

foxtails are grasses that get in the fur of the animals and imbed in the skin, nostrils ,paws and other cavities of the body... very painful and dangerous, the animal effected would need to go to the vet to have the foxtail removed . my own beloved cat was taken to the vet, had a foxtail up his peepee, he died on the surgery table, victim of the anesthesia...some of my beloved past dogs had them but survived the visit to the vet; always brush and comb your cat or dog out well after he or she is out in the fields... foxtails and burrs and other likewise grasses are the bane of an animals life ... terrible , really terrible. .

He is doing a bit better but he still nibbles at his paws the vet at the spca couldn't figure it out either after testing for yeast infection. I think it might have to do with what the treat the grass with her at our apts. I really do. So I have started to wipe his feet with baby wipes every time we take him out. So hopefully that will stop it. We are going to see another vet next friday. I just don't like knowing that a vet can't figure it out. So hopefully a different one will

So hopefully a different one will Probably some kind of allergies, or like you said, a reaction to the grass treatment. Any other skin issues on any other part of his body, or is it *just* the paws? Usually if it's allergy there will be some indication elsewhere. If it is isolated to JUST his paws, I'd really tend to lean in the direction of a reaction to chemicals in the grass.

Something new.... he has started to get these pimple like bumps on his snout area. Under his mouth opening. He has started to use the carpet to scratch them so much that he leaves blood stains on it. Not a lot though. It gets really red almost blood red when its irratated. That is what worries me the most and also some red spots scattered around his under belly. For that I have proxided his under belly and chin areas also used Sulfodene in the same areas. It has cleared up his belly but not his chin. This came up this past friday. We are waiting to get a confirmation on a vet apt for him for saturday morning. My bf and I want to both be there when he is seen just in case one of us forgets to mention something. But I don't have a clue to what it might be. He currently has the "cone" head.

Are you feeding dry kibble by any chance?
If so, how are you storing the opened food?

Are you feeing out of plastic bowls or using plastic toys? Some animals are sensitive to plastics, and often, bumps or pustules around the face and snout are a symptom.

Found out a possible answer to his problem. Found a new vet and He said that it sounds like inhaled allergies but he won't be sure until he sees him on sat. Cross your fingers we get an answer.
